Staying on topic I'd be curious to see whether Hiram Boateng is deemed good enough to bench warm for us in the DM/CM position after a fairly successful season at Northampton.

When he played with James MacArthur at Wigan, I always thought he was the better player but he never progressed after his move to Everton . I know which of the two I’d rather have now.

I’ve a general perception that transfer fees ‘leap’ in the scramble to sign players after a World Cup. I’ve no evidence to back that up; I haven’t researched it. Also transfer activity (rather than speculation) is put on hold until the World Cup is over.

Anyone got the stats to prove me right or wrong?
