If Bournemouth survived and grew then Brighton can too. They have a decent chance of staying up next season, as 'Boro and Hull did this season. When we got promoted this time I don't remember the pages here being as full of arrogance as the NSC pages are at the moment. Yes they went up automatically but it took them 4 season to get there after we went up. Why do they think it'll be so easy for them to stay up. The facilities are good, the club is well run by all accounts, but the set up at 'Boro is excellent too. They should tread carefully.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

I hate to back them in anything, but isn't it fair enough? Any club coming up has to focus first on survival, and to do that you need to finish above 3 teams. I'm fairly sure we did the same when we came up (all those years ago ). As much as I now want us to push on, it's still always the first question I ask myself, and I've already started for next year - who can we finish above? I've currently got Brighton, whoever comes up through the payoffs, Watford, Burnley, Bournemouth, Swansea, Stoke then we've got the next tier which we can overtake very realistically: WBA, Leicester, WHU. All in all, I'm predicting comfortable upper-mid table next year (no drama please)

Trouble is, the transfer window isn't open yet. Their current squad would have to be extremely lucky in many respects to finish anything other than bottom. But realistically, and even given their claims they won't spend, they almost certainly will strengthen. And unless we have a crystal ball, it's a bit hard to predict whether that'll be sufficient. Plus every club gets injuries which can make a big difference to some of the smaller clubs (which includes us). At the moment it's fun to predict for them to go back down right away for a few reasons: There's no guarantee though.

They have a good Championship squad, but it was found out by some really weak teams last season It can happen to anyone. Even the mighty Chelsea were "found out" to a comparatively weak team at Stamford Bridge recently

Between 8th and us is a mere 5 points. This is highlighted by the fact that despite looking like relegation fodder a couple of games ago we could finish as high as 11th.

EVery club has a few knobs but not sure I see too much wrong with most of the thread. They are trying to identify whether there are 3 teams who will finish below them. We would have been looking at which clubs might finish below us when we came up? They're not a well run club but they will make money in the premier league. Most clubs do. And they have a decent stadium with a potentially large fan base (and a number of second team supporters who will be desperate to see top flight football). Plus the owner has said he isn't going to spend big so they will have a (top tier) championship wage bill and £100m to come into the bank. Now they are up, personally I am looking forward to the two games. It's been ages without a proper derby game. We need someone to hate again.

There is an excellent thread on there about Shane Long who they are rumoured to be interested in. I can't stand the bloke myself, which would make him perfect for them. However, there is someone on NSC who thinks that he isn't good enough and what they need is strikers who can get close to 40 goals between them. That's Benteke and Lukaku to Brighton then!

Surprisingly out of 8 pages only a handful said us!!! I just think what a ridiculous thread to start by them but they're so up their own backsides and self righteous that it doesn't surprise me. They truly believe that they are a giant of a club now. I would argue that Middlesbrough and Sunderland are a bigger club than them in terms of history, fan base, stadium, youth set up etc and look how badly they both sunk this season. And that was with Negredo and Defoe in their teams, who are miles better than anything Brighton have. I'll just sit back and take it all in. I'll enjoy watching them slide this season and the ensuing meltdown on NSC!! but Bwighton have padded seats man, f***ing padded seats. They are MASSIVE (apparently)...
