I think Cabaye is a player of such great importance that he cannot be replaced.
I see people praising Milivojevic and Sakho, but Cabaye is the real engine of the team. He does it all: run, press, recover, cover ground, assist, appear behind the main striker, score goals......
Without him....it will be a real tough battle to avoid relegation.

And why sell a 30 smtg year old player? For a lousy 5-7 million? Just give him the money he wants and let him stay.
For me, Cabaye is Iniesta level

Having watched him for two years, and seeing how much Cabaye embraces the less glamorous side of the game, it's hard to know if he was saying goodbye or just time wasting to a magnificent standard.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

I thought he was just enjoying that we looked like staying up with a little time wasting

22 years eating a vegan diet. Perfectly happy and healthy on it.

Exactly, 5 or 7 million in todays market is nothing especially given the cost to replace players. BUT we should consider the wages, Cabaye is currently on 80k or 100k a week. I wonder if he is worth that? He'd probably want more if he signed a new contract here but probably accept a cut just to go back to France.

His importance to the team has been highlighted by the two games he missed where we looked out of sorts, no one in our team can do his role and he ticks a lot of boxes both defensively and creatively but I wouldn't give him more money than he's on now, if he wants to go then should let him go and use that £80-100k to help sign Sakho and a replacement midfielder.

Cabaye is worth more to us than the money we'd get for him IMO.

I like to think that he was just embracing the last home game and winding down the clock yesterday, he seems to be enjoying playing for us

Cabaye has been playing extremely well lately, gels fantastically with Milivojevic. He is a crucial piece of our spine at Palace (not sure about being the engine of the team). It would be good to keep him, difficult and costly to replace him.
I thought he was just taking a slow walk yesterday to kill a bit of time and was enjoying the appreciation and support. However Mattteo Iniesta he aint!

Unless we get a bid approaching £20 million, it's probably not worth selling him. We're unlikely to find such a quality player ready to come straight into the team, and looking at the amount of dead wood we're trying to shift, we can't really be getting rid of first team players even if we're offered good value for an ageing player.

Looked like a goodbye to me, although I hope I'm wrong. He's now playing like we hoped he would from day one. Simply outstanding and could only be replaced like for like with some serious outlay so let's hope he stays, but don't think he will, he wants to go home IMO.

Convinced that selling this player would be a mistake. Every time he's been missing lately we've been s***e and in particular the pairing of Cabaye and Milivojevic has been highly effective; Milivojevic has been off form whenever Cabaye hasn't been there. True McArthur's form hasn't been great but more to the point he's a different kind of player.

Rather than dispensing with Cabaye we need to reinforce that position with more creativity and attacking midfield play for cover. Otherwise we'll be in the s*** whenever Cabaye gets injured, which means every time we play West Brom
