One caveat. The more success you enjoy, the greater the sense of entitlement. Let the growth of the club be organic and gradual.

I would never say that we should be top ten, rather that we could be top ten. A club our size is only a bit of bad luck or a run of injuries away from the bottom three. Makes it all the more interesting.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

The thing is we should never have been in this position anyway, just think of the points we dropped when we shouldn't have :-

West Ham (H) - Benteke missed penalty (1 point)
Swansea A - late winner (1 point) - some could argue we dropped 2 points
Burnley A - winner in 4th min of stoppage time (1 point)
Man Utd (H) - took off McArthur on 87 min, Zlatan scores in 88min (1 point)
Watford A - Benteke missed penalty (2 points)

There is an extra 6 points right there.

Apart from Watford away, all those other games were under the previous manager. These would not have happened under Allardyce.

Theres always reasons why teams end up where they do
Thats why theres 38 games split home and away
Every single team including Chelsea could pick holes in their season where they dropped points .

This.

Big Sam & Sammy Lee will bring in some more quality and let some deadwood go.
Next season will be one of mid-table medicrity and I for one will be very happy with that!

I was a wavering Pardew fan up until the Man Ure game but I lost it with this one and wanted him gone. I couldn't believe that he had no respect for a hard earnt point, and to p!ss it away thinking 'we can nick this one' was so indicative of his inflated ego.
I'm very glad he's gone and we've just about cleansed Selhurst of his ghosts.

We are NOT Like Sunderland at all. The talent we have should be a top 10 team. The reason we were down there was total mis-management by Pardew!!!

Should be? Really? It is achievable with our first 11-15 players but to say we should be top ten is the type of attitude that got us into a relegation battle again this year.

the dignified don't even enter in the game

Cue complaints about dull 0-0 draws.

Short memories. I personally think we've been much more exciting under big Sam than under Pardew or Pulis. West Ham were more exciting to watch under him as well.

Surely we've had enough excitement.

Wet Sham were doing well under Big Sam until the fans got stupid and wanted him out. Morons! I can still see Bilic taking them down next season.

On paper we have a cracking first team, good enough for the top 10. However, we shouldn't get carried away. Injuries have already proven that we need greater strength in depth.

The reality is that everybody outside the top 6 plus Everton goes into a season with the chance if being relegated, even Stoke and Southampton. A bad run or injuries can put even them down with the strugglers, neither of them were that far away this year.

The other problem is that we are Palace. Rarely are things boring. What's the chances of losing Cabaye, Zaha and possibly even Benteke in the summer? What happens if Allardyce is tempted by another offer? The one thing that being a Palace fan for 45 years or so has made me realise is that it's never going to go as you think.

Expect another flirt with relegation, or if things go well a unexpected season where we are gunning for a European place. Mid table safety is just not Palace.
