The correct answer is, of course, Mullery for those of a certain age.

And Pardew haters make me laugh. You get your cues from what the Geordies said about him way back. Sheep the lot of you.

Rescued us from relegation, second highest top league finish in 110 years and an FA Cup final to boot. In two years.

Can't believe it isn't the only answer being given. Mind you, Ernie Walley wasn't great.

Tricky Trev and Peter Taylor's reigns were almost identified. Absolutely f***ing awful.

Pulis is the no. 1
Too young to really remember Mullery but he looked like a sn*de c*nt
Bruce & Dowie are up there but the latter did get us promoted so bitter/sweet
Francis & Taylor were woeful but again the former gave us the 5-0 over Brighton
Freedman was a snake

Hang on, I'm just listing all our past managers! Ha

Taylor then Francis. Both took us nowhere and backwards in Taylor's case when play offs were possible.

Pardew managed to be up there with Coppell for 12 months and down there with Alan Smith in his second 12 months, the damage of which could cause relegation or a summer of highly serious preparation. Luckily there's no summer tournaments, something that may have made Pardew so easy going on players compared to other clubs with there being the Euros last year.

1-Alan Mullery
2-Alan Mullery
3-Alan Mullery

Especially as he took over not long after the days when we REALLY hated Brighton and had good cause too!! All the aggro was still fresh in the memory of every palace fan around at the time!!

If we're talking hindsight:

1) Steve Bruce. I don't think he'll ever be replaced at the top of this list.
2) Tony Pulis.

Notable others:
Pardew is starting to grate on me. I always defend managers while they are still in charge because I am a bit too generous about giving managers a chance. When he was fired it became apparent how badly he'd managed, BUT I just put that down to being a crap manager and didn't hate him for it. But now he's doing interviews on the TV where he's whinging about being sacked and it's really starting to annoy me.

Freedman doesn't go on the list anywhere. At the time I wanted blood. I was dying to see Bolton flop under him (which they did accordingly) and for him to learn a valuable lesson. That score is settled now and he resumes his place as one of the strikers I was most fond of in my time as a fan.

Mullery almost certainly belongs at the top of the list for older Palace fans. Having been born in 1981 though, it's not for me to say.

Venebles. My dad brought me up to hate Terry Venebles. Something to do with using his Mrs as an agent to poach Palace players on the cheap and didn't he tried to squeeze a load of cash out of us the second time around despite us being in financial difficulty. But I can barely remember why I'm meant to hate him.

I never warmed to Holloway, quickly realised that he was a pretty clueless manager. I thank him for getting us through the playoffs but our form under him was awful, every players form dropped away under him and was a terrible operator in the transfer market; the exception being signing Kevin Phillips. I was more sick of listening to him by the end than any other manager.
