Okay, he's maybe not the type (or class) of defender that keeps possession like Sahko, but as far as nothing else to do but defend and hoof is concerned, he's been doing it WELL for yonks!

Against Hull we only need a clean sheet. Tell Damo and Kelly to defend 'championship' style and they'll do fine.

Leaving Damo out against City was a glaring, howling mistake in hindsight. All 5 goals were scored from the middle of the penalty area - the exact place where you'd expect to find Damo throwing himself around fearlessly.

An experienced CB is far better than another player with faster wheels. Damo may get shown up on a fast break, but he'll make up for his relative lack of speed the rest of the time by his superior experience and positioning.

Plus, the man's a horse. He won't run out of steam.

If either Tomkins or Dann end up being fit, I'd play either alongside Delaney. Kelly looked good next to Sakho, but then so would I.

No need for anything fancy this weekend. Regular formation (4-1-4-1) with Hennessey (ugh!) in goal, Ward, Tomkins/Dann/Kelly, Delaney and van Aarnholt at the back, Milivojevic in front of them, Townsend, Cabaye/McArthur, Puncheon and Zaha across the middle and Benteke up top.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

Don't think PVA has been that impressive since his return. Would go with Schlupp at left back. Would also go with Delaney and Kelly at the back with ward. As said before not the game for experiments.

Schlupp has the same issue as Souaré, in that he gives the oppo too much room to get in crosses. van Aanholt does a better job of closing down out there.

Schlupp's better going forward but, of course, we're respecting the point in this game. He's an option off the bench if needed.

I can see Dann and Tomkins on the subs bench with Yohan starting. Delaney and Kelly to start with Ward and PVA, Schlupp a sub and the rest of starters unchanged. Fraze, Macca, Jules and Lee round out the bench.

At this stage of the season I would rather they are risked. If they are fit enough to be on the bench they're fit enough to be on the pitch. If not and he doesn't fancy Delaney he could try our best U23 CB. It would be another gamble but at least it's not playing someone out of position.

Hear, hear,I too get fed up with all these throw away lines about Damo being sh*t.He never lets us down and knows how to defend, puts his body on the line.Just the player we need for a crunch game on Sunday.

Dropping Damo for Man City was a big mistake as he needed game time. If Tomkins or Dann aren't fit then play him with Kelly and - as someone else said - just do the basics. Head. Block. Tackle. Clear. Repeat.

In this match I wouldn't play Townsend but would play PVA and Schlupp on the left. I just think Townsend has a niggle and I just don't know if he's a fighter. I think this would make the midfield that bit stronger.

Put Townsend on the bench, as an impact sub I think he's got a goal in him.

Schlupp may have to come in for Andros if he isn't fit I heard he was feeling a tight hamstring but maybe he is over that.

Damo in a back four with Yo back in the team. As close to a first team as possible if we have to switch it up for the last half an hour then so be it. We need to have a clean sheet at half time and have a real dogged rearguard in the second half.

Feels like hillsborough all over again. Glad they need to play for a win. They will have to expose themselves at times to get forward

Or maybe not a mistake. Depends whether you think Sam left out people to rest them. I don't really think he believed we could get anything from that game
