You say his 5th choice. He started the season as 3rd choice cb behind dann and Tomkins. Kelly wasn't even considered as a cb under pardew. If we can't manage to sign Sakho then his 3rd/4th choice cb. Today he was a liability.

Seems strange you're seeing him and him alone as a liability. The match I watched today seemed to have about 5 or six of them. Why are you singling Delaney out particularly?

I stated on the match thread that a lot was poor. Luka was dreadful. What particular with Delaney is he keep peeling off, call for the ball and his distribution was dreadful. 2 big players missing in Sakho and cabaye. I guess his your favourite player but the way your defending. Today performances was shocking mcarthur, luka and Delaney in particular.

Why single out damo for flak - that's just lazy - how closely did you watch the game ? Plenty of below par performances today, including benteke and luka especially - we'll be ok now but let's just make sure but getting something at home to Hull -point would even do but let's get the win

@hltco - also mentioned about Delaney.

I can't be the only one who thought he was bad.

No, I don't particularly have a 'favourite' player but I acknowledge that, in ordinary circumstances (and losing three centre backs in successive matches could hardly be called 'ordinary'), Delaney wouldn't even have had a sniff of the subs bench. Had we not had Delaney, we'd have had to recall one of the kids from loan, someone with zero Premiership experience who would almost certainly have performed worse.

The central defence is, perforce, a threadbare affair now and I don't think it's particularly fair digging out a player of great strength and character for not displaying the attributes of injured players who were brought in to replace him in the first place, especially when much of the rest of the team were similarly all at sea.

That's all.

Football about opinions. Maybe I used to a strong back 4. With Sakho at the back. We certainly lost his leadership.

Well said sir. And the best shot on target by a palace player was by Damo.

Been to Anfield twice seen 14 goals and my team haven't scored any

Delaney would probably have been OK if the central defence weren't so exposed by poor midfield play. Burnley won a lot through there and we kept giving them the ball back. Milivojevic and Cabaye together look the business there, but Milivojevic and McArthur were both poor today - I'm not sure that McArthur is a good fit in the new system. Also Milivojevic and Puncheon were probably knackered.

Recover, retrain and put Cabaye back and we ought to be able to do Hull. Oh, and don't turn the pitch into a f***ing swimming pool. WTF was that about?

Of course. The back four has been filleted. In just a couple of weeks, we've gone from having possibly the most miserly defence to the most porous. Instead of hoping for a tenth or so finish, we will probably just about limp over the line. It's a big worry.

Agree . I'm sure that big Sam will change the mentality for the hull game if we need points for mathematically safety. His 2m bonus relys on it.

That could end up with a draw for each team providing safety but a defeat for either one leaving that team in some bother on the last day. Serve the powers that be right if their much vaunted TV crunch six-pointer were a nailed on bore draw. Not that we would resort to such skullduggery, of course...
