My guess is that Kelly's huge improvement is because firstly he is playing in his preferred role and secondly his great improvement is in line with the improvements shown by quite a few other players which is assumedly down to the improved coaching and fitness regime

Exactly. Our Kelly was playing out of position through necessity, now he's playing in the correct position it shouldn't be a surprise that people are seeing an improvement.

Probably not. Indeed we will not see Tompkins or Sakho either this season. Fingers crossed on Kelly and Damo or we will be testing lukas defensive skills.

Sakho's injury does not look good, Dann may not be ready by Saturday for the bench Physio room has 6th May as a return date for him.

Kelly put in a man of the match performance last night. He was superb.

If we are relying on Kelly and Delaney as Centre Backs on Saturday so be it, the defending at Palace has improved no end under SA. However we could be short of CB cover for Saturday.

Now 21 May, so he's out for the season.

If need be I suspect that Ward could be moved into central defence although this would leads to problems at right-back.Flamini has filled-in at right-back in the past but not sure if he is up to that at the present time.Might have to use left-footers Van Aanholt or Schlupp at right-back.

I happen to think that Burnley are going to be a real "Tough nut to crack" and I wouldn't be surprised one iota if they got something from the game.

Burnley haven't won an away game all season so hopefully their problems run a little deeper than only needing to come up against our 3rd choice CB. It would be typical Palace though to lose this one.

I agree with you on Flamini but in the twilight of his career I think he'd be the central defender and keep Ward at RB. It's not ideal due to height but I think Flamini has played there before.

It's ashame though as I think with Tomkins, Dan and Sakho out for the rest of the season spells the end of a top 10 finish. I can see us struggling for draws against Burnley and Hull and finally losing the games we're supposed to lose now - City/United.

Well done to all the boys for getting the points required to stay up already, as this could of been really squeaky bum time now. It's just ashame if the team and Sam are marked in history as finishing 17th this season, as they deserve to be known as being a top 12 team on recent form.

Hopefully it doesn't have much impact on transfer dealings/being an appealing proposition to potential candidates.

I'm not aware that Flamini has played in central defence.
I know he has filled in at right-back and left-back.
In his day he was renowned for his workrate, covering a lot of ground but not sure he has the 'Legs' to do that anymore.

Remember him as a natural leader who organised players, always pointing and shouting and Wenger said that he accepts the 'Dark' role in the team.

Yes but they got a creditable 0-0 draw at Man Utd and only lost by the odd goal at Tottenham,Man C,Arsenal and Liverpool.

I happen to think that if they go 1-0 up they will hang on to it.I'm not confident at all of getting all the points on Saturday.

If his season is over, does he go back to Liverpool?

Well, as things currently stand he goes back to Liverpool in any case and he is theirs to sell. I would think though that with this injury and what we know about him other clubs might now think of him as a riskier investment that we would, and the easiest way back into playing for him will be at Palace. If I were say Everton I would probably start looking for someone else. However, if he isn't going to be available at the start of next season we will need somebody else as well or instead. Also I don't reckon this would change Liverpool's valuation of the player.

If this is ACL it could very well be Christmas or worse. Look at Wickham and Bolasie. At least Dann and Tomkins aren't in that category. And Kelly has definitely stepped up to the plate.

Perhaps we can recall either Innis or Croll to have on the bench.

Ollie O'Dwyer is an up and coming centre half at the club. He's 19, about 6'7" and plays regularly for the U23s. Highly thought of.

He's a family friend of mine and I've known him since he was a kid. I did message him this morning about the possibility of him making the bench due to Sahkos injury and he said maybe.

We will have to see. I'm struggling to think who else we bring in unless Fryers makes the bench and god forbid another centre half gets injured and Ward has to move into centre back?
