You need to understand, the loan move was great for Sakho, Liverpool and Palace. I'm not quite sure why I need to understand it as nowhere in my post that you quoted did I give even the slightest indication that I didn't understand the situation

We not poor old palace anymore. We broke smashed our transfer record last season. I heard Steve p say that in the summer we didn't spend enough (indicating net spend). I rather bring in quality over quantity. Sakho ticks the box and should be our number target. Realistically we need 4 decent players to establish top 10.

His performances alone have virtually secured our survival for another season. We'll get another years worth of premiership money, why not spend it on his fee? Surely it's a no brainer.

People keep referring to £30m. Why? If we allow Mama to return to Liverpool, we will have to spend (say) £18-20m for a replacement. Ergo Mama will effectively cost £10-12m, and if we spend that money, it could encourage Zaha to stay and other high quality players to join us. Moreover, it would buy us a dozen or so points over the course of the season. Money well spent I think you'll agree. Edited by Harpo (19 Apr 2017 11.59am)

That is just crazy maths. he would still be costing us £30m..... I think the guy is great, but I am sure there are players as good as him for much less cost. Originally posted by Harpo

If he wasn't already playing for us, I don't think many on here would think that £30 million was money well spend on a center back with a bit of baggage. As soon as we are safe, Sam will sit down with the powers that be and work out budgets and look to see who is available.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Our deal for Benteke totalled 32.5 million, didn't it? This theoretically wouldn't be out of our price range, and I think it will be a long time before we can pick up a player of this quality again. I agree with this. Sakho is at least as valuable to our current side as the Big Lad Up Top. I wonder who these cut-price (£10m, cut price??) alternatives of the same standard are?
