Then we'd be making the same mistake as we made when we sold Bolasie; failing to sign a replacement. I would very much like to sign Sakho, but not at the expense of replacing Zaha (supposing he does leave).

In answer to the original question, no I wouldn't entertain a swap for Moses as, however good he may be, we'd be being short-changed on the deal. Zaha is worth more, especially to us, than Moses valuation.

plus Chelsea would have to change their tactics, wilf cant play wing back, moses can, imo, cos he is stronger, more about power than constant trickery. I may be wrong but imo wilf is a winger, only.

I'm really cheesed off with the constant chatter about Wilf leaving. He is our player and contracted to 2020.
He has been an integral part of the team since the promotion year apart from his stints at Man Ure and Cardiff. He brought in a needed injection of cash in his transfer. Steve Parish stuck to his guns and bought him back to save him from the nightmare under Moyes. The only team to have shown definite interest for him recently was Spurs with a derisory offer. Apart from the low offer Spurs have a history of ruining players careers so why should Wilf be interested in them with no guarantee of a first team place in their system. Would a move enhance Wilf's international career? - no he is an automatic choice for his chosen country Ivory Coast. Would Wilf move for better wages? - very possible so SP has to up his money a L'Oreal - he's worth it !!
As Wilf admitted on Saturday he still has a lot to learn and it's obvious that he can do that with us especially under Big Sam and Little Sammy whereas he won't have any guarantees of regular games at any of the top 6 in the Prem.
Big Sam said that SP has to get Wilf sorted out as quickly as possible and that can be done soon when he is convinced of our Prem survival. Given a couple of more seasons Wilf can be at his peak and absolutely world class at which point he may well be a target for the likes of Real Madrid which would be great for him and a massive pay day for the club.

Leaving now would be a massive mistake for both Wilf and the club - I just hope that SP gets it sorted soon to put an end to speculation like this topic.

I'm not sure why people are saying that to facilitate Sakho staying we would have to sell Wilf to free up some funds. If anyone is going in the summer, the most high profile to leave will probably be Cabaye. If Wilf leaves it will be because he wants to, rather than the club just cashing in. As others have mentioned, he is more than just a very talented player for the club.

Like others, I of course hope we hold onto Wilf. It broke my heart a bit to see him playing for Cardiff on loan, to see Man U take the piss.

If we can sign Sakho on a permenant, keep Wilf, that would be a 'statement' of intent.

Luka has been strong for us in midfield so far, seems a better version of Jedi.

As for Cabaye, he has been important to us, yet I am still disappointed by him. If he goes to Marsielle I think we could look to upgrade in his area too. Someone that can actually score free kicks and long shots would be ideal.

Is the correct answer.

Please stop the negativity now! As previous posters on this thread have already pointed out, why should we kow-tow down to so-called 'top clubs' when we can challenge them ourselves? I believe we're in the process of building a very strong team here that's capable of results against all the established sides, which means we can end up in the top 6 next season. Why not? But we'll have to hold onto our star players & that includes Wilf of course, as we have to build the team around them. At last it's coming together & there's no reason to be so pessimistic right now. First priority's avoiding the drop of course which would be disastrous...after that let's work on a longer-term strategy by keeping our most valuable assets.

It has taken some time but his replacement (Townsend) is now very much cutting the mustard.

I don't agree with players holding clubs to ransom, but with Wilf I truly believe we ought to offer him anything he asks for when it comes to convincing him to stay. Perhaps appease him with some release clauses that would assure him he'd not end up in a team that's going nowhere.

If a decent offer, from a top club comes in then I think he would go. We will offer him top wages to stay but he will get top wages elsewhere as well.

I'd have thought that as much as this club is home, he'd want to play in the champions league and after the performance he just put in, who's to say that he won't do very well.

For me it's all about what we do with the cash and the very best of luck to Wilf.

(Would be over the moon if he stayed next season though.)

We should do everything in our powers to keep Wilf. To be honest his salary must be very low when compared to Benteke and Cabaye. It's not as if we need to the money - we can compete on salary with the big boys especially as (hopefully) we will be entering a record 5th season in the premier league. If we have to sell then we should only be looking at top class champions league performers - Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern (and for stacks of cash). This is the level I think Wilf can/should attain to. Not s***ty Tottenham.

Keeping Wilf should be our priority, but Champions league teams could really scupper us. Imagine the boost it would give the pundits/press anti Zaha agenda if he did decide to stay.

I wouldn't swap Wilf for anyone.

Not saying he's the best player in the world but the best player in the world would be disdainful of playing for us. So if we can make him happy to stay, we should.

So to us he's as close as you can get to priceless.
