I wonder which club has been impressed by his ineptitude this time? Maybe his continual employment highlights how unfit club owners are generally? Surely anyone sane / with a football brain wouldn't touch him with a barge pole?

If social media is anything to go by A lot of Derby fans not happy with his sacking. Five months isn't much of a chance really.

When he joined after 11 games, Derby were 19th.He had a terrific start winning 9 of his first 12 games and there was real expectancy that they would mount a promotion challenge. However they have only won 2 of their last 10 games and only won 1 of their last 5 Home games and now sit in 10th place so their promotion hopes have faded. No idea what targets he was set when he joined Derby. They have had 4 managers in just over a year.

To be honest Derby should have stuck with him .. they were not going to get relegated ... ok so they were not going to get promoted but they are a mid table team

What is both amusing and a tad worrying is McClaren for all his faults is probably the most successful English Manager in the past 15 years or so. Last English manager to win silverware got Middlesbrough to a UEFA cup final Speaking of 'Boro I can see McClaren moving back there in the summer. If you are referring to silverware in this country, I think it was Harry Redknapp who was the last English manager to win a trophy when Portsmouth won the FA Cup in 2008.

Its the way it is nowadays you have to pick up points week in week out or you will be sacked.

I am just pondering as to who Derby have in mind to replace him. Pardew, Warburton ? Maybe someone completely different.
Edited by Willo (13 Mar 2017 11.20am) Further to my post above, it has been reported that Pardew is not in the running for the Norwich job. Edited by Willo (13 Mar 2017 11.21am)

No doubt if Rowett is appointed he will have Summerfield as his assistant - they join clubs as a pair. Edited by Willo (13 Mar 2017 12.43pm)
