5 of our last 11 are winnable if we maintain current form. (Watford, Southampton, Hull, Leicester and Burnley) So I predict we end on 40 points and the rest is a bonus ...forever the optimist!

Most of us have been here before to know that it is a long way from over. It's about this time of the season that the bottom clubs start picking up some strange results against the top. We did it to Chelsea a few years ago to cement our place in the Prem, and it will be the same this year too.

The big difference now is that Sam has got us into a position to nick the odd point off everyone now. I don't fancy us getting anything from Chelsea or Arsenal, but everyone else is a potential 1 point at least.

I reckon we need between 9 points (if we are lucky) and 11 points to stay up. It seems achievable from here, but there is a long way to go and I haven't seen enough good performances in a row yet to feel comfortable that we do not have another Sunderland performance in us.

Atsenal have been guilty of some shocking defending lately and the bin dippers have also put in a few s***e performances. United yesterday were appalling too.

Boro's last fixtures are:

Sunderland (H) Postponed
Man U (H)
Swansea (A )
Hull (A )
Burnley (H)
Arsenal (H)
Bournemouth (A )
Man City (H)
Chelsea (A )
Soton (H)
Liverpool (A )

Ours are:

Watford (H)
Soton (A )
Arsenal (H)
Leicester (H)
Liverpool (A )
Burnley (H)
Man City (A )
Hull (H)
Man Utd (A )

To me these are very similar run ins in terms of the types of teams being played. Hull are gone for me - their away record is too awful for them to stay up, and they're generally just s***. I think Sunderland are gone too, but how many times have we said that the past seasons?

After two good performances perhaps would be better if we played next week to keep the momentum going. Hopefully the two week break will still benefit- rather than harm us.

Like many, I'm more optimistic after W.B.A. Hull's fixtures are also "interesting". I think I'm right in saying they still have to play Boro(H), Sunderland (H), Swansea (H-their next game) and us at Selhurst Park. Their results will be key for everyone.
Swansea have to play Boro (H) and Sunderland, Bournemouth and Hull all 3 away. Personally, Swansea going on an undefeated run would suit us and I hope the bottom 3 are marooned. As a previous poster said: the end of season games are less predictable. The best teams to play at season's ends are usually those between 8th and 14th with less to fight for, but no one really knows. We aren't playing many of those mid-table sides, but we look better than the 3 clubs below us.

I agree with you there. We need them to get deflated and marooned as you say.

I see Boro have one of the bottom seven at home, three away. We have two at home none away.

Boro have three of the top six at home, two away. We two at home four away.
