i don't mind giving the players a break if they've had a hard week BUT I do mind giving Sakho one. He's not kicked a ball competitively since April and we've spent £3.6m on him for what is now a maximum of 12 games. The fact that he hasn't made the starting X1 for our last 2 games suggests he is some way off optimum fitness and sharpness. Surely for him this 2 week period should be about getting him into shape for Middlesboro. I fail to see how a weekend in Dubai can be of benefit. I notice he didn't play for the u23s yesterday which surely would have been ideal preparation for next Sat as would a behind closed doors game at some point last week. Perhaps he was still jet lagged (yes I know it's only 4 hours difference, but it is a 7 hour flight).

If jet lag or long flights was an issue, none of the other PL teams would have gone there. This is just being angry at something without knowing any details. None of you have any idea of the player's fitness, training regime or how that realistically compares to other clubs either.

Pff, the longer Sakho stays away from our first team the better, I'll pay for him to come over here for a holiday too if he wants. Awful, overrated player, and if you wanted evidence of whether he's worth it?... Well there it is, he's f***ed off on holiday when he should be training.

Some clubs went to Dubai for a warm weather training camp e.g for 4 or 5 days during the 2 week break. Palace decided to stay in the UK but during the 2 week break gave the players the weekend off. I have no problem with that. I do have a problem with Sakho going to Dubai though as he is the one player who surely needs additional training as he's not kicked a ball competitively for 9 months. The jet lag comment was clearly a bit of a joke although I don't see how two 7 hours flights in around 48 hours will be of benefit to anyone. The facts, and yes this is a fact, is that Sakho didn't play for the U23 on Monday, which surely would have been perfect preparation for a start on Saturday. This strongly suggests to me he won't start on Sat, or if he does it's a massive gamble.

The other point is, no one has a clue about the training Sakho has been doing or his fitness. Maybe he and the club have been working hard since he signed so it was necessary to give him a rest? Maybe he's still two weeks away regardless so they didn't want to rush him further? Maybe, just maybe the club and him have decided that playing U23 games isn't the best for him. He can't train 24 hours a day, and he can't train for 14 days straight either. Still, I'm sure you know best.

Don't need any break for the following: 1. See that thing with a net across it ... thats called a goal 2. See that ball ... you kick it in that goal Then the fans are happy, Sam is happy, SP is happy and we might get three points if we kick it in the goal more times than the other team. Simple really
