Well he kept them up against all odds ! Won 3 of his first 6 games but lost 8 out of his first 11.But only 1 defeat in their last 11 games and that was a 2-0 'Home' reverse to champions Leicester.

One of his early wins was against us at Selhurst when Defoe capitalised on a mess up between Hennessey and Dann on the night Pardew heralded his "best" starting eleven.

Also seem to remember him saying afterwards his main concern was to keep Bolasie and Zaha quiet.

Both good articles - I presume they both have an in to Sam as they are very similar.
Let's hope the Players can get back to basics quickly because scunthorpe's facilities are probably not the same as most Prem. Clubs so very soon they will find out what the word basic really means if they don't change things around!

A very good piece. Would have liked an explanation on why we seem to have regressed since SA joined. But seems like it was a similar story at Sunderland last year

It does say that maybe what happened on Sunday should perhaps have happened sooner.

the dignified don't even enter in the game

How many of them do you honestly think would stick around long enough to sample the joys of scunthorpe?

Ironically I think that very Sunderland defeat was the start of our abysmal league form, or lack of. So not only did Sam start the dismantling of our premier league status, he's going to be responsible for finishing the job off! The irony eh ...

In actual fact, after that Sunderland debacle we won 3 and drew 1 of the next 4 league games, including a 2-1 victory at Stoke.Won't that be a welcome scoreline on Saturday !

Hennessey again. Turning a simple requirement and point into a catastrophe and zero. Feckin rubbish. Blagging a prem wage. No courage at 6 foot 3 or whatever. Can't come off or stay on his line at the right time and is slow to get down to low shots. Why is he here?

Fear not, I've come up with a 10-point manifesto to sort this mess:

1. Free spliffs to all so-minded supporters
2. Mandatory spliffs to all the players*
3. Ejection of anyone looking worried by Pete and/or Alice
4. A pre-match comedian for fans
5. A pre-match comedian for players
6. Uri Geller
7. Play 'don't worry be happy' when the players come out (maybe bin GAO for a bit)
8. Voodoo

Stuck now. Actually it is an 8 point manifesto.

*Demonstrably medical requirement to avoid anxiety so should be fine with the FA
