Embarrassing result on the pitch, but equally embarrassing reaction from some "supporters " at the end. Especially those planks dressed in black who congregated around the tunnel at the end of the game to abuse the players, what a pathetic bunch they are.

For a lot of fans, your club is part of your identity. a deep bond that defines, in part, who you are.

Often you have no choice in the matter as it's been handed down to you by family, or forms a connection and belonging with friends.

It's why the culture around football means that perfectly sane, sensible and responsible men will shout and scream and shed tears of pain and joy.

And it will force some people to feel such frustration that they will confront players.

And so, I won't condemn that fella today, because he felt what Damo doesn't. What few players feel

Supporting any team is not a job. You don't get to move on to another team.

You don't get to shrug off a loss before leaving the changing room, instead you it ruins your week.

So, there is every point in abusing players when they're not fit to wear the shirt you care so much about. Because, in part, they are insulting you.

I agree totally with your comments.

And regarding the last sentence,an old showbusines adage states that when a comedian starts to insult his audience,he may as well walk.

I think it was justified today. Even those with the rosiest of spectacles would have seen that for what it was. A negative atmosphere doesn't help, but we were beyond help today.

However, we should all dust ourselves down and give them a fresh start on the 25th. Getting on people's backs from the start is not going to help, so we have to continue to do our bit.

Why shouldn't we abuse the players it there fault that we are in this mess we haven't got a crap team as I've said before there's something going on with the players that will come out in the summer they are overpaid idiots and when we go down if I was the chairman I would be saying to every single player that there ain't going anywhere unless we receive 40 million

This. We've given them their abuse (and rightly so), but next week we've gotta support them from the get go. If they put in another display like that, though, then by all means have a go.

It probably doesn't help, unfortunately in sport, as in life , if you act/play like a c**t you can expect abuse. If your sh*t at your job you get the sack and are left skint, if your sh*t in a relationship you get dumped and spend a while w*nking. How do footballers get told? They don't get the sack etc, when things are going well they demand a payrise, I don't boo our players. But f*ck em, today they were f*cking sh*t and now they know.
Should be f***ing ashamed and be chipping in to buy all of us lot a pint for the boro game.

Nail on the head. Overpaid overhyped but f:cling useless

The problem is the massive unparalleled abuse the players recieved today will have damaged their already brittle confidence.
I've never experienced such vitriol in almost 50 years of watching the Palace,it is totally counterproductive, and embarassing to witness.

So they pick up their 30k + a week and we sit there and pretend everything's OK ? Yeh it looks terrible, and nobody enjoys it, but it is completely and utterly deserved.

Let's just remember, we were 4-0 down at half time to the bottom side in the league.

What about our confidence in the side ?

I think I've only verbally abused roughly 3 Palace players in my Palace supporting lifetime and that's Bason, Aylott and Pardew. There were probably a few more that deserved it though.

All well and good. But the same players were heaped with praise after the Bournemouth game yet that seems to have done nothing to boost their confidence either if today's performance is anything to go by

Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

It's been hard today but I don't think it matters who's right and wrong. It's about what will achieve the best results. Ok fans have tried abuse but support got us further looking back overPL time for Palace. Time to put it behind us the only way is up from now on. The players have to work now that point has been made clear, so a bit of support would be good.

Different strokes for different folks, but I have never heard of a footballer having his performance improved by receiving loads of abuse, let alone by the threat of violence from his own club's "supporters ".
The only consolation of being relegated would be the shedding of the more fickle fans.
