For a start, he has strengthened the team in areas it needed strengthening in, he builds, develops the players we have and makes them better, and (thank heavens) starts with defensive strength and resiliqnce, so thta the team knows its job and is totally focussed on doing it. Yea!

it always worries me reading such postive posts after one victory, as somebody who has been watching palace since noah was a little lad,i know there is going to be lots of twists and turns yet and as for this game against sunderland i do not think they are just going to roll over I couldn't agree more. Very welcome win at Bournemouth but as the saying goes "One swallow doesn't make a summer". I'm understandably somewhat circumspect at the present time.

Don't know why everyone thinks SA is a northerner. He's from the Black Country, near to Dudley, making him a miserable midlander, though he seemed pretty happy the other night. Anything north of the river is north mate. I thought that lots of fans on here would think that my post was a bit premature after a single win, but sometimes it is nice to dream of success. The job is to stay safe and that is by no means certain yet. On the field and in the stands there has been a pessimism that is self fulfilling. This year even our losses have shown some potential. We don't have any cup distractions now so playing the big teams can be our cup run. Originally posted by miss smith

I'm fully aware that the Sunderland game is going to be crucial, but I'm of the opinion that a bit of confidence in the stands can be contagious. You must remember when we have flirted with disaster in the past, with dismal teams and little hope. We are far from that position now, and I look forward to our dour midland manager, putting a smile on all of our faces. There are many posters on here who will complain if we finish in the top half and start proportioning blame. Lets hope this thread doesn't come back to bite me, but confidence can be contagious as well. COYP.

I know optimism is an alien concept on these boards but things are looking up. Traditionally we only ever have half a good season, and the end of last and the beginning of this one may been painful but we should look onward and upward. A win against Sunderland could lift us to 15th. 2 wins on the trot would provide momentum for the Boro match, and then we would be up for a tussle with West Brom. With Wilf back, our new signings, and a string of winnable matches ahead, things are looking a lot less scary. There is no way that we are one of the worst 3 teams in this league. Lets hope bad luck and injuries are behind us. We have a history of roaring up the table after a dismal start, lets continue the tradition. With the best Chairman and fans in the country, it’s all there for us to achieve. Even if our manager is a miserable tubby northerner, he’s our miserable tubby northerner. Top 10 ten isn’t beyond reach. The greatest team in South London is far from done with this season. Keep the faith brethren, be loud and proud. COYP. It's amazing one win, brings out the top 10 plastics.

I am also feeling a bit more positive after the win but am wise enough to remember we are in a right scrap this season. Hull are fighting for their lives and look far from broken as many are saying, Sunderland are dangerous and we should be a little wary they have little to lose and could possibly sneak a one nil on Saturday if we think they will roll over. We are often better away and may pick up the points required when least expected.

I must admit I couldn't see us staying up after the home defeat to Swansea, but am beginning to feel more positive now. Not because of the win at Bournemoutn, although that certainly helps, but because of the signings made in the January transfer window. The new personnel, along with the return of Loic Remy from injury, will hopefully give the rest of the team and supporters a much needed boost at just the right time. Wilf's back sooner than expected from the AFCON, too, and is in the form of his life, so there's every reason to feel optimistic. COYP!

I'm more optimistic to palace's near future than I am to the new yank prez or the finalising of brexit. I don't want to deal with bloody visas! Let me feel good for Palace's direction. If Sam is only good for getting players in, we'll know in mid march and can do something about it with our reinforced squad and 20 odd points left to play for.

Fifteen matches to go. I hope Sam and Steve are looking for an average of two points per match - giving 30. COYP

All good words but it's down to the players Saturday to walk off with 3 points. If things go wrong then 1 point.
