In any event, despite the love affair that a few on here seem to have with 3-5-2, I can't see Sam trying it again anytime soon. He would be capable of playing there though. I hope Sam has some plan with playing 3 at the back going forward, if not then why did he play it against Everton? Ward was pointless as a wing-back because he barely gets forward. a 3-4-3 would probably work better with Zaha now in the team, so he could play on the right of the 3 forwards. 3-5-2 doesn't necessarily mean your wing-backs are defenders, if you gain dominance then it can be a very attacking formation.

Speroni Ward Dann Tomkins Van Aanholt Wilf Ledley McArthur Cabaye Townsend Benteke Yeah, a really boring 4-5-1. I want us to play 4-4-2 against Sunderland, but the problem right now is that as good as Remy looks, he can't play the full 90, and with no straight replacements, taking him off means completely changing the system. With any luck, this will be a classic Allardyce win - defend and soak up the pressure, nick a goal from a set piece or break (and Wilf is back to provide the necessary moment of magic).

He may be, although I have my doubts, but he wouldn't be as effective at what he does best, and that's what we need him for. SA used that formation as an expedient, as it fitted the personnel we had available; I'd be very surprised if he saw it as a long-term solution. 4-3-3 seems more likely to me. If so called 'backs', of whatever nomenclature, don't defend, particularly in a side that doesn't now excel in protecting its goal, we really will be on the way to hell in a handcart. Because the defence is cr*p. Hennessy is the last man in the team who is meant to stop the bl00dy ball going into his net but he cannot even do that so please stop blaming the defence as you always do. Hennessy is a liability in my eyes and always will be and at best is a championship keeper NOT premiership !!!

I'm sure he's as frustrated as everyone else that we keep conceding goals. Anyway, 'Jules' is unfit so you're stuck with hennessey for now.

The saves he made yesterday the time before and the time before that are just normal run of the mill saves as the media mentions all the time. But how many Prem goalkeepers let in as many goals as our Hennessy ???
