Totally agree Sam needs to show confidence and belief in his players to get the best out of them saying they are not good enough for the Premier league is only going to demotivate them.

In the past we have never gone public with details of who we are after but Allardyce has made it very public that he wants Carl Jenkinson which must make Joel Ward and Martin Kelly feel just great

Maybe it's reverse psychology with SA, presumably he knows what his doing with his quotes and how to motivate his players as his been in this situation many times. If we lose and show a lack of belief and fight today SA will only have himself to blame, hopefully that won't happen.

When Pulis took over he said keeping Palace up was his hardest job ever.

It's a way of managing expectations and bigging themselves up. It also puts pressure on the board to get players in. If it goes tits up the blame gets shared

I have never been a fan of Allardyce and I think a lot of fans are forgetting that what they like to hear now made him an annoying fat b****** when at Wet Spam, Newcastle etc.

But having said all that, I think fans and press often take too much notice of pressers, often artificial news filling the void of 24hr news

All the pundits have come out and said that Palace is the easiest task Fat Sam has had to date with the talent at his disposal. We have good players here I have seen them preform brilliantly on many occasions. Its his job to motivate them, make them believe in themselves and turn things around. He is covering his own arse now for what will be his failure if we go down. His pessimistic stance cannot be good for team moral.

Interesting , I have heard these comments and I do wonder who they mean. Based on who from our team would go from out team and walk straight in as a regular member of another premiership team in the top 14?

McArthur is our best player by far.
Benteke , because he can score goals.

Wilf , would he do it elsewhere?
Dann , before he was captain yes.

I am struggling to think of any others that would be a regular at another club.

Exactly the media's perception of us and what the majority of the palace faithful know is at contrast! For months all we've heard is Palace are too strong to go down, which is simply not the case.

Apart from Dann,Delaney and Tomkins the backline is weak. We have a poor goalkeeper and our fullbacks are just not up to scratch.

Attacking wise we've been okay, maybe we've relied too much on set pieces. We could do with a more creative spark in midfield.

I think key positions have been ignored consistently, Pardew holds responsibility for this. People need to judge Sam by the transfer window and see if he can address the short comings of Pardew's tenure.

Surely this was supposed to be cabaye.
1/. I agree that sams body language at the press interviews dont look very inspiring, hes trying to be laid back but its coming over as not bothered , we can only guess what goes on behind the scenes and whether SA is playing mind gamnes. But what I do know is that I dont like the way hes presenting to the cameras.

2/. People going on about we are too s*** for players to come to palace but the teams below us and just above are in the same attractive position so we will have to see who wins the transfer race let alone the survival one. However it seems we cant have one without the other.

I accept where you are coming from but the game is a team game . There are many players that suit one side and not another but the ability if the player us the same. Benteke was brilliant at Villa but never fitted in to the Liverpool way of playing.
We are now in a position where the same players are going to have to play under a different system some may blossom others may fall.
What we have to hope for is that we do not fall into the Championship in the process!

I quite like Sam's realism vs Pardew's delusions.

I agree. At first, it seemed reasonable that Pardew was dealing with a loss of form. As the bad form continued, it became increasingly obvious the problems we have had since promotion were still evident. Yet we spent huge sums on four players, and added virtually nothing to the overall depth of the squad.

I don't think Sam is wrong at all, as I don't think more than 7 of our first choice 11 (assuming everyone was fit), would get a regular game elsewhere in the PL.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

Nobbybm has it 100% spot on - this is a challenge to the players to find an extra % of commitment and a mini kick up the backside / wake up call. He's been ultra positive from the start and that not having been enough, its time for some home truths. If this fails to provoke a response Sam will know who has their heart truly in this. It's about provoking a response and getting to know his team better - what can motivate different players. He knows what he's doing and it is calculated.

Maybe, just maybe he's trying to get a response from the players? I mean everything else has been tried and they just don't seem to respond. He's trying to make these idiots (the players) realise the seriousness of the situation they're in. At the moment a lot of the players are letting the fans, the staff and the management down with their limp displays.
I find Allardyce's honest assessment of the situation refreshing and it's better than Pardew's 'clean sheets don't matter' la la land.
