I do think it is utterly ridiculous that we have known for about 3 months we are in dire need of a left back and 3 weeks into the window we haven't signed one. Surely you would be putting the feelers out in early December with a view to having a deal in place for the first week?

Similar story every transfer window:

'Palace's wage structure appears to be causing problems in their attempts to sign players as Allardyce has been left frustrated in getting deals over the line.' Maybe that answers a few questions

A club can identify targets and put out "Feelers" etc but at the end of the day one still has to get clubs to sell players, agree a price, players have to want to come to your club and agree personal terms. It can be a very protracted, infuriating and frustrating business so I am told.

I appreciate it's not an overnight job, that's why I am asking the question, if we knew in September Pape was out for the season/forever, how are we almost 4 months down the line with no replacement in? I know not many clubs have done that much business this window so far, but they aren't in the position we are and also haven't known for 3 months that they definitely need a left back.

I think we're waiting on Evra deciding but we can't give him too long without making an offer elsewhere.

I agree that a left back should have been brought in before Saturday's game, paramount! Maybe Zeegelaar will come off. Personally would have preferred Brady over Schlupp too. He played fantastic both games at Selhurst with Hull and Norwich last 2 seasons and think he could do a job as defender too. Originally posted by ParchmoreEagle

yeah same old s***e a club sets a price for a player then parrish makes an offer of half their valuation , just so he can say we made 8 bids and none excepted. i think this time though we have to get it done with the players we have or get relegated , i rekon thats what he is planing for . hey if we do get relegated we might even string a run of wins together ,poor sam i can see him doing a pulis on us , i wouldnt blame him .at least if we go down and Brighton go up we wont have to suffer the humiliation of getting beaten by them
