Given the IQ and the level of service at half time etc, I think they are lucky to get paid at all, bunch of thick divs who couldn't manage a f*** in a brothel with bag of used fiftys.

There are definitely the jobs that warrant it and the jobs that do not when it comes to a football club. At first glance, should everyone be paid the living wage? Absolutely. But dig a little deeper and it's a bit silly. A cleaner that services the kitchens, toilets and stadium would be considered a 'low' job but is very important and should be getting as minimum the living wage. Also, a cleaner is more likely to be earning the money to support a family aka a 'proper' job. The kids that come in for a couple of hours on a Saturday to work the turnstile or hand you a cold burger and then take 15 minutes to work out your change I'm sure can make do with minimum wage. Those sort of jobs are so 16-18 year olds can put on their CV that they've done something or because their parents want them out the house. Of course there are the youngsters that really try, offer good service, do pro-active things like check the beer and burgers are in stock etc but you'll usually find these people get promoted to assistant manager and earn more than the Living wage anyway.

Agree with leejaneagles. If Khan gets macdeads, koffc and Burger King to pay a living wage to everyone to use on recreational items then fair enough. I suspect he'd do as well at that as he did with transport fee promises. Until then what's it got to do with him?

I don't think Khan gives two hoots about the wages at the Palace, but it makes him sound good.

SP has already tweeted that CPFC do pay LLW to all full time staff. Whether that means they don't pay it to part time staff is anyone's guess So none of the matchday staff (stewards, counter people etc) are paid the LLW? Who are the full time staff?

The BBS have gone for the Guardian type opinion as expected. A few quid more for a couple hours easy local work would get their drink and food served quicker and with a cheesy smile. Yeah course. In the bubble.

Surely most staff are temporary staff anyway? Meaning their respective agencies would be their employers, not Crystal Palace.

What has it got to do with him, he needs to look closer to home. Are all council, TFL and Mayoral employees paid this living wage? Anyway I am confident all the players are getting a bit above the living wage, they just deserve it.

Although I disagree with Sadie Khan on most things, other than our mutual agreement that Jezza is a bellend, I do agree with this. People should be paid a decent wage for an honest days work. Not all people can work 9 to 5 for a variety of reasons, and as such, should expect a minimum that is sufficient for them to live to be provided. It should be voluntary and willingly given by business. Without it, capitalism will face questioning and capitalism is the only way to raise living standards.

Matt, how many of the people who serve you on a matchday are doing it 'for them to live (on)?' Most look as though they're doing it to spend that night or buy clothes etc. Wasn't there a near on riot when wages for attending what is effectively 6th form college was withdrawn? Loads of us did cr&ppy jobs in our youth with tales to tell about most of them. We were doing them because were cheaper and were available to do it for peak times rather than 40 hours on someone who needed a wage to live on.
