Not sure what all the fuss was about. Fans moaning about the announcer, Shows how pathetic some of our anarak wearing fans can be. Been playing s***e for months, get piss poor service in the bars and food counters, overpriced fa cup tickets (City game £25) and fans start a petition about the announcer. Feck me only at Palace. Announcer is more important than the above! Well the back story!

Well done Steve Parish if this was down to him!

FWIW I think it illustrates where fans feel the club are getting some things wrong. If we were winning more than we are losing it may be different. The new / old announcer was terrible, I feel for him as part of the problem was trying to broadcast from the pitch - it didn't work. In the Arthur you couldn't hear announcements, the music GOA, was non existent, unless it started midway through a half and the lights were blinding, literally not metaphorically. Last night, the Crystals were announced, cue 3 mins of them stood there looking at each other tapping their feet not knowing what to do as it was the wrong track. In the grand scheme of things they're nothing to get excited about but when it feels like the club are lurching from one disaster to another on the pitch, off the pitch problems also become a focus

Well none of those are new. We've been s**te for over a year (and for six months of each of the proceeding seasons), the service in the bars has always been s**t, but its a lot better than it was under Jordon as is the food, and are you really claiming that FA Cup tickets to an all premiership tie are over priced at 25 quid each. That's cheaper than its going to be for the Man City Palace game in the league. I missed out the food, the service is still s**te, but at least its almost edible to edible now. Personally, I never eat at a sports venue, on the basis the food is always at best average and overpriced. Edited by jamiemartin721 (18 Jan 2017 3.20pm)

Fans love tradition and hate change, so if you're going to make changes to their matchday experience they better be good. The recent changes have been both unnecessary and s*** so it's hardly surprising there was a backlash against it, especially given the results. Palace have been superb at keeping the fans on board and in the loop over the past 6 and a half years, but they'd started to veer away from that, and it's little things like this that can show they do still care about us and will contribute to an atmosphere that might be a bit more helpful to us winning games. How many managers say "small margins in this league", keeping the regular paying fans happy can contribute to a much improved atmosphere and you never know that might make the difference needed to win us a few games.
The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money. |
