Nowhere near as bad as some people seem to think. We better have a very good replacement lined up he does go

No point selling him atm, we need all the help we can get.

He is a very frustrating player though, he has a lot of talent but I don't think we get the best out of him. We seem to want him to be a defensive midfielder, which he is not good at. The amount of stupid fouls he gives away is infuriating - like for the opener vs Swansea.

We get a decent DM and a good AM in then he will be surplus to requirements.

Our CM is where I think we are weakest in the whole squad now Schlupp has signed

Cabaye was important to how Pardew wanted to play (even if it didn't work out). I'm not sure he's what Allardyce will want given our predicament and comments he's made about returning to a more direct game. Yohan does the simple stuff well, but I think perhaps we need more than that now, especially at 80k per week and I wouldn't be too bothered either way. I certainly don't think we should let him go without a replacement lined up though.

Having said that, hopefully he builds upon recent performances and makes me change my mind.

Definitely sell, we're a better team when he doesn't play. Not his fault in a way, he's a good player and wouldn't say he doesn't try either, but he's too similar to our other midfielders and is on big wages. Sell for £6/7m and use the money elsewhere.

Yes sell - providing we can get a Fabrigas/Lampard/ Mata or Gerrard as a stop gap until we find our obvious missing link: a creative, ball holding midfielder WHO CAN PASS THE BALL (forwards)

How would you get a 'well prepared squad'?

Sell of all those players you mention now? (and finish bottom)

You make it sound like a walk in the park getting promoted.

Plus with our track record of transfers, you really think we'll get some cracking new faces ready for the Champ? Unlikely. If we go down it'll be a complete rebuild job and take us a long while to rebound

If we ever did. Who knows what would happen at board-level if we go down? This wouldn't be like the last couple of times (and they took six and eight years to 'bounce back'); there's some big money riding on our success and, most probably, a lot less patience. We need to keep this squad together (although I'm not so bothered about Townsend) and sort out the left-side in this window. Stay up and then the overhaul can happen in the summer. Anything else would be a disaster and I refuse to give in to this namby-pamby, melt, we're going down attitude.

I fully agree. There are 17 games to go and all to play for. Relegation will be a disaster and if we go we'll be gone for a while. The Championship is ok but I don't get this sudden craving of some fans to head back there as we've been there enough in recent history.

Some fans like the idea of pay on the gate so they can rock up twice a season. Getting relegated will be a disaster.

If Mutch is being touted for £4m Cabaye is worth a tad more than £6/7m!
It is rumoured that we would expect £16m to consider letting him go in Jan but of course I also hope that would also depend on having a worthy replacement lined up.

Marseille fc are apparently interested as it would link Cabaye with Rudi Garcia again who he worked with before at Lille.

By whom ?
Any club that pays £4 Mill for Mutch has taken leave of it's senses.
