I am minded of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, well known poet and drug addict.
During an opium-induced dream, he composed "Kubla Khan". On waking, he began putting the verses to paper,...when he was interrupted by a knock on the door from a travelling salesman. The interlude completely derailed Coleridge's poetry efforts, and the poem was left unfinished.
