My first visit to Selhurst Park was as a 12yr old in 1961 and Palace had just come up from the old 4th Division. It was love at first sight with a 4-1 victory over Notts County under floodlights.

Like many others I have since experienced the extremes of many highs & lows, frustrations & false dawns, plus euphoria, including 9 promotions, 7 relegations, 2 FA Cup Finals (plus one replay) various play off finals and the thrill of watching MY team at Wembley no less than 6 times - plus once at the Millennium Stadium. How many fans of other clubs (outside the usual big hitters) have had those opportunities?

Yes, there is no doubt that the present situation is worrying and a big concern and the football has been dire and not enjoyable of late - but hey, the season is nowhere near over yet. Keep the faith. We`ve been here before.

Someone once said to me that you are more likely to divorce your wife than change allegiance to your football team. How very true - it has tribal origins, it's in the blood and blood runs very deep.

My love affair with this magical, frustrating, yet still fantastic club has endured above all else and is not going to fade now. The current phase will pass - for good or for worse. We have been here before and will doubtless be here again but the magic will always be with us. Selhurst is ours and ours alone - I shall be going there for quite some time yet!

You can face anything if you are true to yourself.

Ive been going since 1968 , I still love it , but 27 home defeats in 2.5 seasons is so so so painful and , with the fans we have got , UNACCEPTABLE!

Yes it's become a chor, but it's been that way for a few years now since I moved away from the ground, not our poor form, it's just the journey, I know I only have a 100 mile round trip, which isn't that far compared to some people, but for someone who grew up in Bromley and then lived in south norwood it feels like a right old trek!!
Doesn't help working Friday night and being knackered Saturday's!!!

I was actually going to stop getting season tickets about 4 years ago but the feckers went and got promoted

Has to be said though, once I'm in my seat, I still enjoy the games and the banter, even when we're s***, which I guess is what keeps me dragging my weary arse up the M20

M20? You Lucky bugger. I have to choose either the M4 or the M40, then M25, or rail via Marylebone or Paddington. Then I have to choose Thornton Heath or Norwood Junction.

Two to three hours each way for me. Every single match!

I wonder how many of the fans of longstanding have still retained their wooden rattles - wonderful contraptions.

I love the build up to the game, telling friends and family I am going. Getting up on the day getting ready, travelling, spotting more and more supporters the closer you get. I particularly love palace under the floodlights. Something very very special about it.

Michaela, you've summed up extremely well what so many of us have enjoyed for the greater part of our lives: something to be savoured once a fortnight and eagerly awaited throughout the summer. I just hope I can get that feeling back again, because it ain't there now.

If I didn't take the kids I wouldn't mind at all. My boy is five and as optimistic (and daft) as any other lad his age. He GENUINELY thinks he could beat Usain Bolt in a race.

But we went up to Arsenal and a couple of kindly older Arsenal fans were having a bit of banter with him, asking him who was going to win. He said Arsenal.

They tried to encourage him to believe in Palace but he wasn't having it. Arsenal would win. They did and we rolled over meekly.

He doesn't believe we'll win games.

My daughter prefers games against s***tier teams.

I hate that.

But I still love coming to Palace.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

I've not missed any home match in years but have already taken the soft option by staying indoors on a couple of Tuesday nights this season. I won't be going to the midweek replay but will be back in my seat on Saturday. Gone through everything that the last 48 years supporting Palace has thrown at us but I'm definitely feeling "Pardewed" at the moment.

I first watched Palace in 1953; for personal reasons I was only an occasional visitor for much of the 70s and 80s; but I have been almost ever-present for the past 30 years and a season ticket holder for about 20.

For what it's worth, I have no wish to see Sam go (ridiculous suggestion), and I guess that we'll stay up.

But rather than looking forward to games, I now almost dread them. Over the years we've all known what it's like to come out of Selhurst Park fed up and bad tempered (many, many times), but within a couple of days we feel up for it again. No longer true. I didn't want to go to the Swansea game, and the first half that day absolutely sickened me. Yesterday was another kick in the guts and next Saturday is already looming like a big black cloud.

Some may accuse me of disloyalty and having a weak stomach, but despite all the Palace disappointments I've suffered over 60 years, I've never felt the sadness and disconnection with the club that I feel now. But I'll be there next Saturday.

I feel the same mate. It's incredibly sterile and the attitude amongst fans is the most un palace like I've ever experienced in the 24 years I've supported the club. Disconnected is most apt indeed

1/6/2010.a new era.we made it everyone!!!lets get the ball rolling for another 105 years of proud history.thank you cpfc2010.

The above is a wonderful post. It is how I've felt also for over 50 years of supporting our beloved Palace. But I'm really struggling with the current run/set up - I'm going to give myself a good talking to tomorrow, but just don't feel the same for the Bolton game on Tuesday. Which makes me very sad.

I just want to see whoever plays giving 100%. Can get my head around any results if they do that.

Jackson.. Wan Bissaka.... Sansom.. Nicholas.. Cannon.. Guehi.... Zaha... Thomas.. Byrne... Holton.. Rogers.. that should do it..
