I always thought this would come up when I heard he wanted out of Juve, really wonder why it didn't came up before.
Yet I'm not sure, too old, is he still good enough? Maybe as a short term fix...

Cabaye and Mandanda are probably big parts of the reason he is moving. Guaranteed starter if fit. Younger than John Terry and just as good a defender in his position- Terry could still probably do a job as a CB, so can't see why Evra cant as a FB. This signing, if it happens, has to be good news- his career is hardly on its way out when he started for France in the summer.

A Winner. A Leader. A left back.

I think he can still do it in the PL.

If we get him, could be a big turning point.

This would be excellent, wealth of experience and a winner! would give everyone a lift. Plus a left back by trade.

Why does the image of Edgar Davids spring to mind?

It does, doesn't it?

With the exception of Kevin Phillips, signing 'pensioners' hasn't been a very successful strategy really. Oh well, lots of people seem very happy so we'll have to wait and see (if it happens).

It doesn't- for me at least.

I think this is a great idea. We need some nous and real leadership - Evra clearly has lost a bit of pace but defending at full back is not just about that - see Liverpool.

And he should be able to show our other and arriving full backs a thing or to. If SA/SP pull this off I will be excited

Just saw this on ssn. Crazy !!! What an incredible piece of business if we do this, and from what I saw last year he can still do it. Good early business being done this window, new manager and some players he wants should stand us with a good chance to fix our situation. Have to say well done to sp and big Sam for getting this sorted.

Davids had been retired for a year before he joined though.

This surely has to be worth a punt even if it doesn't work out. It might at least hold us afloat until the summer (an Indian Summer in Evra's case perhaps!)

Just happened to be a in a Notary's office here in Azerbaijan and the local TV were showing Seville v Juventus from the Champions League in November 2016.

Evra was playing - if he is still playing Champions League against the likes of Seville then he surely will be okay against 70% of what the Premier League have to offer.

A mate who lives out there said this "He's not started in many league games this season but seems to make the team for European games - been playing on the left side of a back three. Still reads the game brilliantly & could be a good fit for your lot".

Perhaps that's Sam's plan?
