Townsend is a lazy prick. I hope he kicks on under BFS but I will never respect him. He has shown no desire or commitment and is not a team player. He clearly has ability and I hope that shines through but I don't think he will ever be a fan favourite. His attitude towards being played on the left stinks and can be compared to Wilf who always puts a shift in, every single match. I don't care how you feel about Pardew, the buck has to stop with the players. And while I feel that a change was needed, we could have Klopp and mourinho in and we still wouldn't win unless the players buck up. It's underperforming players like him, Dann, Tomkins and Punch who have to take the majority of the blame for our current position.

Was saying that about Townsend when we were in the market for him. One trick horse who is now throwing a tantrum if he's not put in a position where he can show that, little to offer besides the cut-and-shoot.

As I've said on many threads about Townsend, why did we sign him in the first place if it was a known fact that he wants to play on the right ?

We needed a left sided player to replace Bolasie - so Pardew either thought that he could convert Townsend or Wilf to play on the left, or maybe he thought Wilf was going to leave....whatever, it hasn't worked.

Are you kidding! Townsend has come out and stated his favoured position is on the right

So what? He can say whatever he wants. It's the manager who decides where he plays.
Is Townsend gonna throw a temper tantrum if Allardyce says "Move your ass on the left". Is he gonna say "No, I won't do it!" ???

Have you ever seen a player say that? I don't get the blaming Townsend gets. Yes, he PREFERS playing on the right. That doesn't mean he can choose. It's the manager's job to exploit as best as possible the qualities of his players. If this means Townsend on the left and Zaha on the right, then that's what he should do.

*By the way, playing inverted midfielders as Allardyce does and Pardew did totally calls for offensive fullbacks when Townsend and Zaha cut inside on their favourite foot.
Palace's formation with Kelly and Ward (a right footed left back) is just sooo crazy.

No, he hasn't done that, but what he does do is sulk and make no effective contribution if he's moved to the left.

Dunno about that. He played as left wing in the 5th match of the season, the 4-1 trashing of Stoke. Provided an assist and a goal. (which is more than what he has done on the right )

Last year's second half of the season he played both on the left and on the right for Newcastle, but he mostly rocked on the left, as they usually fielded Sissoko on the right.
He almost kept Newcastle up by himself, would have done so if he had been there since the start of the season.

He's not completely useless on the right as he does have a little technique, but he's struggling there. He's not as gifted as Messi, Mahrez, Robben, Douglas Costa to play as inverted winger.
His main attribute is pace. That's why I see him performing better on the left.

He may like it more on the right because he can shoot and score goals, but it's not up to him where he plays.

Trust me if he could perform on the left then he wouldn't have anyone calling him a lazy, selfish person.

Fans will call it how they see it of that you can be sure and so far Townsend looks more purposeful on the right but Wilf is better and he looks disinterested on the left which is where the frustration sets in.

Best case scenario he accepts he should play on the left or he he might find himself on the bench.

It's a big if but if Evra does join Palace then Schlupp might be coming in as a left winger rather than a LB...it's conceivable wouldn't you say?

So as long as Zaha returns healthy and ready to play then Townsend will find he is dropped to the bench...he is going to have to show his worth while Zaha is away.

It's so good to hear open and honest press conferences from Allardyce, especially after games. Something about the pre-west ham one has me confident about the game but also the transfer window. A win tomorrow and some announcements either today/tomorrow or early next week would be good
