I had so many arguments on here that Wickham was just as good if not better than Benteke and the more I see of him the more Im convinced I was spot on

Think it's 2 missed penalties and about 10-15 sub-par performances. I was as excited as the next fan when we signed him and think he could still come good, but just watch him. He never gets on the end of anything and is often in a different post code when we're attacking. He's shown flashes, but for the money, we need more than flashes.

Well he absolutely banged in the goals for Villa...had a decent goal/mins ration for Liverpool and is a Belgium international. So unless class and ability disappears overnight, I just don't think the issues lie with him.

10 - 15 sub par performances? We've only played about that many bloody games so far...Sam will get the best out of him. Give him a chance.

According to the Mirror, Big Sam will sell Benteke and use the money to strengthen the squad. I suppose he has to say that it's a reluctant sale to get the best price but he obviously doesn't fancy him and I think he's spot on. Benteke is too lazy for a relegation fight and will only cost us more points than he already has.
Big Sam should be applauded for having the guts to do this and undo Pardews folly.

Sorry but "according to the Mirror* in January really does mean jack s***.
Journos will pick every teams star players to get those fans attention. ie. Deli Ali wanted by R. Madrid , Courtinhio to Barcelona , Defoe wanted everywhere etc etc.so and so to china... Personally I think Wilf. Jimmy Mac and Benteke are the only 3 players we cannot afford to lose...which is sad really as it should be more.... Anyway its bulls*** ...sell Benteke and whats left ... Frazier Campbell , Remy and Wickham on crutches

I can't see this happening but I think it would be a marvellous piece of business if we could get our money back on him.
I started a thread criticising his movement over a month ago which I got absolutely shot down for, he's done nothing since then to change my opinion.
Good touch and if the ball is played to his feet/head I feel reasonably confident he might score, however his anticipation, movement, work rate etc is dreadful.
No idea who we'd replace him with but if big Sam has got signings in mind I'm all for it.

What happened to the £20m we were supposed to have anyway? It really has to be: in BFS we trust. I never thought I'd say that!

I don't get why we never play through balls for him. I don't think I've seen is try one in spite of him clearly pointing where he wants it played and there being a gap. I don't think I've seen us play a through ball since AJ left

I really think that Bentekkers will come good...BFS likes to play with 2 up top and we do have a dream team in Remy and Bentekkers (if remy can stay fit). BFS has alot more passion that pards and tends to get the best out of whatever team he goes to. we have a fit team for saturday , the players have had a rest as it seems pards played the same 11 for so long without really rotating...so if we win on saturday then its onwards and upwards, if we lose...NEXT EXCUSE

but what ever happens ill still be a palace fan regardless

This is so true, but i have to admit when we brought Cabaye i thought that he was going to be the man to provide this...but Pards played him in a deeper role...BFS played him in his natural position against Watford and he scored, but then played him the defensive role for the last few games as Jimmy Mac aint be fit...(or so i think)

£30m for Benteke supposedly plus the reported £20m for this window and some loose change maybe for Mutch. Benteke would have to be replaced as Remy is most likely just one game away from his next injury and we need a LB and LW as an absolute minimum. Plus Campbell maybe going out on loan. We are going to struggle to sign the players we absolutely need, down the left side, in this notoriously expensive window, without adding to the problems.

I'd much prefer getting the left-sided problem sorted this window and get the rest of the team playing to their full potential. The summer is the time for major overhauls, not January, especially at the speed we recruit and there's hardly likely to be a queue of quality potential joiners round the block.

I think this comment is about right, good header of the ball but not much more, not worth the money we paid based on performance to date, if we could get our money back would be great deal and and as someone said earlier we could not afford if we were relegated anyway and would we even get our money back at that time, especially if his sick note brother is part of the package. Klopp clearly did not rate him because he lacked floor skills and work ethic off the ball, good luck to Sam if he can find a home for him in China for the money we paid which about the best we can hope for!
