Why would Allardyce want him? Dont think our problem is in midfield and who would you replace him with in the team?.

The midfield is a huge problem, particularly the DM role. Flamini has sorted out some of the problems in there but he's still getting his fitness up and seems to pick up little strains that affect his game time.

The problem wasn't selling him necessarily. But the problem WAS not replacing him with another presence/character... Only just managed to get Flamini in and he didn't play till December (apart from treacle in his boots for 5mins v Stoke). Add this error to the other players sold and not properly replaced. The latest being a left winger for a right winger.

Perfect scenario for me, the man obviously bleeds red & blue. I'd like to see him mentored and if up too scratch takeover the reigns in 2/3 years time from BFS.

But there aren't any rumours..... Well there are, but they're pretty much wishful thinking. I'm a huge fan of the Jedi, but he isn't the answer. He wasn't in the team regularly at the start of last season (or in the months before when we finished 10th). He did however feature quite a lot in that period after Christmas when we were s**t. But we were right to let him go for 4m. Despite all the mythologizing about dressing room characters, natural leaders etc... Truth was he was surplus to requirement to Ledley, McArthur and Cabaye.

People were upset that we let Stuart O Keefe go as well, until we started winning games and moving up the league. Difference is of course Jedi, was immense for us, and we didn't really replace him (although last seasons first half Ledley, Cabaye and McArthur did a fine job). Truth is, start winning games, and people will stop gibbering about Murray, Gayle and Jedi.

No way is he returning to Palace. Players of his age never go back, it doesn't work. Why are West Ham bidding for Defoe then?

If you choose what to believe in the media, Jedi was a victim of Pardew's dressing room leaders purge. And certainly released in favour of the more ' expansive ' style of play that we have been treated to. To get ( if we did ) £3-4m was an offer that made sense for us to accept. But he wasn't replaced like for like on the pitch in either a positional sense or a leadership role that extends beyond that. Big mistake. I'd love to see him back, but fear that he wouldn't deliver as expected. And I don't want his name tarnished.

Why are West Ham bidding for Defoe then? He scores goals for fun, Jedinak doesn't. Also different owners.
