I disagree on Benteke. Again I thought he won most of what he was given. But the service to him is appalling and predictable. And the support for him virtually non existent. At least when he went off injured we couldn't just lump it forward and so were forced to try and play some football. But you can't blame Benteke for the way we're playing. That's coming from the other players and the manager (and the past manager as well)

Has BIG FAT CASH SAM even been in it ? Still BFCS think of the money !! Ok, we get it. You think Allardyce is bent. Well done. You're just repeating yourself. If you have anything else to say, say it. Otherwise, just shut up. We get the message.

I disagree - the improved performance in the 2nd half was because Campbell was prepared to run his socks off making space and chasing down. I've never been a lover of Campbell but at least he shows desire and passion both of which are sadly lacking in Benteke. Yes I agree that the service to him is poor but he just doesn't have any movement. His ability to hold the ball up isn't that good and his scoring record is hardly one to shout about including 2 vital penalty misses. I'm fed up hearing so called experts saying how good he is because he just isn't and that's why Klopp got shot of him. Considering the amount he cost I consider him one of our worst ever buys along with Akinbaye and that's saying something isn't it ??? If the Chinese offer £40 million then grab it because his value in this league is nowhere near what we paid for him. I did say I thought we improved when Campbell came on. But I think that was because the team had to vary the lump-it style. If we had played that way when Benteke was on the field in the first half we would have been much better off. But I admit he can lack work ethic. His ability to hold the ball up is actually very good. But we're not letting him play that way. Hoofing the ball up to him and forcing him to flick on to the nobody that is supporting him doesn't really allow him to showcase any strength holding up the ball (which he definitely has) But to suggest his scoring record isn't that good just makes your post laughable. 8 goals in 18 league matches this season. Edited by OknotOK (04 Jan 2017 10.49am) Laughable ? Our position is very serious and although 8 goals from 18 games sounds good were they good or vital enough for him to be worth £30 or 40 million? not to me when I consider the 2 pathetic pen misses which cost us dearly! I never thought I'd be calling for Campbell to come on but that's what I and many others were doing last night !!

The 1st half was the worst I've seen for many years - way before Holloway. Even the display against Fulham when he resigned was way better than that half last night. The press conference was interesting, yeah. He started off with the 'recovery period' rubbish - but he did become reflective and blame himself. He pretty much highlighted every issue that was wrong with the game - and used some harsh language about the players. I couldn't imagine Pardew having done that. He'd have said they were unlucky etc...

I never thought I'd be calling for Campbell to come on but that's what I and many others were doing last night !! You didn't say he didn't score important goals or that he wasn't worth £30m. You said "his scoring record is hardly one to shout about". That's crap. His scoring record is outstanding. I was calling for Campbell to come on last night but I wanted it to be with Benteke (unfortunately he was injured). If the players were going to insist upon lumping hapless balls up to him, at least then there would be someone to try and get on the end of the flick ons he was still winning consistently. He was on for 45 mins yesterday and still won more headers than anyone else on the pitch (equal with Llorente). Do I think he has done enough to justify a £30m price tag? No not really. But the main problem last night wasn't his lack of effort. It was that the rest of the team seemed intent on bypassing the midfield and just hoofing it at every opportunity (and according to the press conference that was against BFS's wishes). It was predictable and easy to defend.

There seemed to be no plan last night. Nobody knew what to do with the ball once they had it, and noone was making any runs off the ball. Compare that with Swansea players who were darting all over then place to make space, and they should have been at their lowest ebb having lost 3-0 at home to Bournemouth on Saturday. The whole shape is wrong. You have two players in CM who are completely left-footed so keep having to go round in circles and can only pass sideways or backwards. You have two wingers playing on their wrong sides so they're having to cut in too, which makes CM too crowded.

I completely support big Sam and believe he can turn the mess that Pardew left behind around. However I must say Campbell and Sako were arguably our best and most passionate players bar Zaha against Swansea. I hate all the negativity around Palace at the moment, take a look back at the past 10 - 15 years, we've been in worse situations and I wonder where those supporters who backed us through all that have gone?
