Who ever realised just how monumental Soures M4 incident would be?

the area that is utterly inexcusable is the fitness levels. Any professional sportsperson should at least ensure they are in the best possible state of fitness to do what they need to do. Too many of these players simply aren't. It is a disgrace that players like Cabaye and Benteke simply don't look capable of running as well as the opposition. Absolutely agree here. Haven't seen it first hand obviously, but alluded to by BFS and here on the forums. That would explain some things though - conceding so many goals late in each half, the multitude of soft tissue injuries we have incurred and the team appearing to lack energy and "passion" e.g Benteke / Cabaye, Townsend among others. If there's one thing a Manager should get right, its the players' fitness levels, no excuse. Pardon my ignorance, but does Palace have a fulltime fitness consultant / coach? If not, it should.

I agree on the (physical / mental) fitness levels / loss of goals in last 10 minutes. Couple that with 2 games in 48 hours and an injury hit team without a huge squad you have a recipe for a result like last night. Arsenal and Liverpool both struggled with the quick turnaround despite their resources. Let's not get too despondent.

If it's true that Townsend has forced the manager into giving him the right wing and forcing Zaha out to the left wing, then last night was an open and shut case for telling him to f**k off if you ask me. I rated Townsend when he joined and waxed lyrical about him after a few games, but if you're going to have sulking wingers on both sides of the pitch you might as well do away with them altogether and play 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 to at least have some goal threat when the ball gets lumped forward willy nilly from the defence/midfield.

Agree. Players are as culpable as the manager. Jules could be the key in this bad run. Hennessey does have his good days but last night he was caught knapping AGAIN. He is like a wet sheet in the wind and does not watch the ball on a lot of occasions. H should have stopped their second gaol going in but in fact all he did was to just flop down in a sitting position. Jules is a great stopper even if he is shorter than the other two goalkeepers which if I am correct was the reason AP dropped him (among other reasons) AP likes tall keepers. Jules saved our bacon so many times over the years he has been at our club so why not let him have a few games to prove his worth now?
Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |

I cant imagine Fat Sam being 'told' by anyone where he's going to play them so i'd take it with a pinch of salt. That said, knowing Wilf wont be here for 6 weeks makes trying Dross Townsend in his preffered position an obvious choice. Sadly, I think he's been sh1te wherever he plays.

Yeah good shout, it did cross my mind last night that there could just be logic to it. I hope you're right, I don't like stories of dissent within the camp when things are going like this.

I have listened to pundits whose sentiments have been that given the "Quality" of our players we are too good to go down and have under-achieved. They are thinking of the likes of Benteke,Zaha,Cabaye,Townsend etc even Puncheon !. With the exception of Zaha, I think these pundits have a higher opinion of some of our players than I have !

Tonight you could see that the players kept passing sideways and backwards. They have little inclination to move forward. We have been slated Campbell and Sako are only good for the Championship but they did change the game's momentum. Now that our place in the Premiership might be the last we might have to keep both of them. Sako on his day, is a premiership player. Its just that he's been in a team with Zaha and Bolaise, and missed chances to come through when they're not fit through injury. Campbell is a energetic bag of s**te, but I think he'd probably benefit from a 4-4-2 - Although with Beneteke out injured he is our only forward option...

This was how I read it last night. I think the switch of wings at HT of Wilf to right and pussy Townsend to the left was some sort of disciplining lesson with the subbing after 50 mins to a chorus of silence after a performance that should be described as feminine.

I've never known a team that lacks intelligence like this one does. Some of our players are as thick as pig s*** or have a stinking attitude problem.
