Everything I've heard him say after the game has been fair IMO. Lot of singling out of the defence yesterday on these boards but the players in front of them particularly Flamini, Zaha and Townsend were abysmal until we were 2-0 down. At 2-0 down maybe Arsenal took their "Foot off the gas", we then decided to have a go as there was nothing to lose and the combination of the two probably resulted in us coming much more into the game. At 1-0 we were still in the game so probably didn't want to change the game plan and open up.

Honestly, with so many key players missing against an Arsenal team at home and in tune, I wasn't expecting much. More interested in what I see at the Swansea game.

OMG did you hear him on MOTD " We won't be improving until March or April " thats a great rallying cry ? God I'd rather watch a Pardew managed team than the dross we served up today. Puncheon sitting in front of the centre backs. Full backs not allowed to cross the half way line. Zaha and Townsend both sat in the Arse's full backs pockets ! Christ its going to be a long winter. Still Big Sam turned down CHINA's Millions ... NOT !! to save us I thought Sam's post-match analysis was refreshingly realistic and spot on.
We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell] |

Agree with hedgehog50 & ParchmoreEagle. A refreshingly honest assessment highlighting the need for some serious hard work. Although disappointed with the performance I wasnt expected anything from the game. Much more interested in what we do in the next four games.

I interpreted this massively differently. Didn't he say, best case scenario we'd be safe and clear by March or April.... He'll be looking for us to improve with every game I imagine but it'll take time for that to translate into points and league positions. Yes he is trying to tell people who get hysterical to calm down and don't expect us to beat Arsenal anytime soon. He is telling them I have inherited a team that has been broken for a year now and it might take more than a week to fix it.

If we had allowed Arsenal to play on the counter, we may well have been on the wrong end of a serious beating.

Bit harsh to insult the woman for having a different opinion. All Palace (and Arsenal who said we were worse team they played!) I spoke to yesterday thought that was our worse performance of the season so far. If you were there, you will know that we were lucky to lose 2-0. Our full backs showed no intent on supporting our wingers, which meant Wilf and Townsend were isolated and doubled up on at every chance we had of going forward. I thought that would make us more solid? No. We could have lost by 5 or 6 yesterday, that is something I havent witnessed at Palace for a long time, even under Pardew's poor ending. What I will say is that we should have beaten Watford, cant expect much against the Gooners. But Swansea is a must win. I wont judge Sam completely yet, but he's already got a few people questioning hist 'style'. He said himself, we should have beaten Watford, when Pards said that he got slated (not a Pardew advocate but double standards?) On to Swans. If we don't win that, then we know Parish has made the worst decision since taking over at the club.... Edited by SeagullHunter (02 Jan 2017 11.36am)
