Totally with you Bubbs.

I feel sick to my stomach knowing the impending doom of the sheep on board those trailers and just pray that they are not going to a Halal slaughterhouse so their last moments on this earth are not as bad as they could be by stunning them before any butchery is done at least.

To be fair, I doubt after a life in which they are immediately taken from their family, penned in 2 square metres for their life, hyperdosed on dodgy antibiotics, fed a mixture of gruel and the flesh of their brother sheep, kept in a darkened room till they go blind and their fur falls out, then dumbly lead in to a bright abbatoir room...I doubt after all that, many of the sheep are going to really care if the butcher makes the sign of the cross on their forehead or says a prayer to Mohammed.

Like, I'm not a sheep or anything, but I doubt many of them are going to be able to tell which one is civilised and which is barbaric.

If punk ever happened I'd be preaching the law, instead of listenin to Lydon lecture BBC4

Yes it does make a difference.

The UK standards of animal husbandry will prevent much of the extreme cruelty sheep and other farmed animals will experience thankfully.

And as for the abattoir.... the Halal butchery leaves waiting sheep traumatised with terror before their throats are cut without being stunned and hung on a hook still struggling for life.

Sadly meat eating is part of our psyche and will continue to be so, but there is no point making the lives and the slaughter of these poor animals any more horrific than it needs to be and Halal butchery should be outlawed.
