I'm backing Kelly to shine at Arsenal and change perceptions. I think good communication between the goalkeeper and back 4 is pretty important and so am not completely sold on Steve, despite him clearly being the superior keeper. Who are the good English speaking goalies out there who are better than WH and readily obtainable? Since I don't know, I say offer WH another 2 years.

Fryers has barely featured and needs to re-build his career in the Championship. I think he'll get offered a couple of years - He's not on big money, and this season he's shown himself to be far better than the lemon we bought. Originally posted by Rachid Rachid Rachid
Campbell isn't good enough and on good money. Campbell deserves an award for the length of time he's managed to play in the premiership based on two good loan spells (Royal Antwerp and Hull). Astonishing when you consider that he's 29, and at best back up to the back up strikers back up (and at best average bench warmer). Originally posted by Rachid Rachid Rachid
Ledley should be offered two years IMO - never let us down and great attitude. The way Pardew initially froze him out at the end of 2014-15 was a joke and another example of his bad judgement. Pretty much agree, three years I'd say, works well as a mid-fielder and defensive midfielder, and at a push left back. Originally posted by Rachid Rachid Rachid
Appiah has barely featured. Dependent on how much we loan him out at, and how much we pay for him. Obviously if we make money on loaning him out against his contracted wages - Might as well keep him. Originally posted by Rachid Rachid Rachid
Flamini is still on trial IMO. When fit, probably the best defensive midfielder to pair with Cabaye. Since Flamini came into contention for a midfield place we've been remarkably strong at the back, against stiff competition. And when he goes off, we tend to stutter more. Delaney should stay - one year extension. Definitely, but his legs are going and that's why he game the penalty away against Watford, lack of pace. We need a replacement, but someone we can phase in with Delanney becoming a bench player. Originally posted by Rachid Rachid Rachid
The one goalkeeper I would keep is Speroni. Neither Hennessey or Mandanda have looked adequate replacements I'd keep Speroni on the payroll indefinitely. Legend and absolute stalwart for the team, who came in 'when the light was bright' and stayed through the darkest days, and then saw us back into a new dawn. I'd want him at the club in some form or another, till the day he decides he wants to retire from football entirely. Hennessey has been good this season and lacks the errors he was making last season. Mandanda I think is a good keeper, who just lacks a bit of experience. Problem for both keepers this season has been the cohesion of the defence in front of them, rather than their ability. I think we'll get a proper judge of their ability under Allerdyce's more defensive focus.

Get rid of all of them. Plus sako and mutch. It time players earn their money. I like ledley but if we were to sign m'villa or scherlin in the summer. There's no need.

So I think he will either leave in Jan or get a new deal of 3 years Campbell - is our 4th choice striker, can we get or afford better ? I think he will let expire and see what other clubs offer Kelly - is an important squad player but isn't a left back. He has played at international level so unless we get a good offer he should be offered a new deal Fryers - has not been success everyone hoped but we have no left backs. Big Sam has a style more like Sir Alex so he may prosper . time will tell. I think we will extend his contract but if we get an offer I think we may accept. Flamini,I think will be extended Delaney I am not sure, it depends on who we buy in the window. However he may stay on as a coach Speroni I think it is time for him to hangup boots as a player. AP brought in his own goal keeping coach who I suspect will leave. I think Speroni will move into this position Appiah - will go in January by mutual consent. We need squad place

Also delaney didnt give away the penalty due to lack of pace, he was defending a corner- pace doesn't come into it. I do think Clattenburg gave the pen due to delaneys earlier clear foul when he took pudl out from a previous corner- realised his mistake and was looking to rectify it at the earliest opportunity- shame Delaney have him a chance to atone for his earlier error.

I'd like to see more of Fryers. He has something. Has anyone sat Benteke in front of a TV and shown him how penalties are taken in the real world? My son's school coach would be glad to help.

He's looked a bag of nerves and makes zero use of his huge frame most games. His one redeeming feature is his kicking with both feet. Even the United game in which he played well he showed Ibrahimovic too much of the goal and cost us at the end. Aside from games against Everton and Southampton last December he's not won us any points. Mandanda's form and behaviour is looking flaky. Symptomatic of Pardew's tenure. Pardew mentioned that he liked the way he took our defenders out of their comfort zone with his passing to them. Idiot. As Rossboss pointed out Marriappa's release is looking like another really poor decision when considered alongside Hangeland's retirement and Tomkins propensity for being injured.

I was wondering who we have with very little time left on their contracts and it seems there are a few more than I expected; Ledley, Hennessey, Campbell, Kelly, Flamini, Delaney, Speroni, Fryers & Appiah all seem to have 6 months(ish) left. Whilst you might argue that there are a number of them we don't need/want going forward there are a few in there I'd prefer to keep but there's no (obvious) news of an contract talks with any of them. This leads me to speculate that perhaps the club aren't looking to renew? In which case a) Will they be sold whilst they still have some value? b) Who can we get to replace them (and at what cost)? Mods: please move to Transfer Talk if appropriate. I suspect he will want to keep Ledley if he is happy with the bench.
