Many moons ago, I saw a 17 year old David Swindlehurst make his debut for Palace against Notts County, in a game I expected palace to win handsomely.

I was ecstatic too, as I had seen this kid Swindlehurst form a deadly partnership with another youth team striker called Paul Hinshelwood. I was expecting a star to be born,

Sadly, the game didn't work out that way. Palace lost 1-4 at home, and poor Swindlehurst looked utterly crushed.

So I think going in too early might ruin a kid's confidence.

Then again, I am no exert on these matters, and I'm prepared to listen to the many informed pundits who, for some inexplicable reason, shun the chance to manage Barcelona and spend their evenings on the Holmesdale.net forum.

Pundits, fill me in!

Agreed. The only reason that someone like Rashford, as in my example, was played was because of a depleted squad.

If someone like Wilf were to disappear for longer than a few weeks, would Sully fill a void? Or would we better to re-invest in a proven player?

At 21 he should be getting first team game time.
Either give him his chance or let him go.
By the way the boy Swindlehurst ended up having a pretty good career !

Dammit man, pretty good is not good enough for me.

I saw things in that boy Swindelhurst that would have made Pele look like James Milner

That goes for you all!!

If anyone on this thread thinks 'pretty good' is enough, i want you to leave.

Yeah, that's right, you. Go on, hop it. I want 200% in my threads.

He scored on his debut against newcastle after being on the pitch for 10 mins, looked great against southampton on his league debut, had a great spell at shrewsbury on loan, and is playing ok at brentford
Where he has not been afforded many a chance.... What more
Does this guy need to prove?? He deserves a run of games- and
If he doesnt get it i have no faith that any of our youth prospects,
No matter how good, will get a chance.

Playing as you put it "ok" at a championship club where he is coming off the bench doesn't make him ready for the PL. if he was here then he may be worth sticking on the bench but I don't see the point of recalling him before the end of his loan term.

the dignified don't even enter in the game

A neighbour of mine is a coach at Brentford and when I see him I always ask after KaiKai, and indeed did earlier today.

He thinks he's decent but still has a lot to add to his game. And short of what's required at the top level at the moment.

Not really done enough while on loan. He has made the step up and looks like a championship player which is progress. He needs to kick on after his brace and nail down a starting role. Leave him where he is, at the end of the season he may be worth a look in. He had 3/4 chances against Cardiff and scored probably the hardest 2 he just needs a bit more consistency. I think he has potential but is some way off. I think he probably needs to develop at Brentford for the rest of the season (they play good football down there) and next season I'd send him on loan to a top championship club chasing promotion for 6 months.

We cannot afford to be nice in this game. The competition is only a mouse click away and there's a globe full of them ready to steal your lunch.

Thanks though and have a happy new year.
