11 points from the last 19 last season was enough to get rid of him at the end of last season. Sadly SP was blinded by the cup final and his judgement was all wrong on this occasion!

The missus just pointed out that Pards will be sitting at home reading the HOL, given he'll have a bit more time now.

So I would just like to say thanks Pards. We know you tried and had the best interests of the club and the fans at heart. And you have given us some wonderful times. But this is Palace, things never go smoothly.

Well said, but at least the £4.8m in compensation will help him sleep better. He was out of his depth and has been rewarded for failure!!!

Yes.

Doesn't value or respect points like the other experienced managers in this division. A big part of his failure. If he did he'd still be in the job. That lack of respect is a disrespect of this club's need to cement its next season in this league before going for glory and throwing points away here, there and everywhere and he knows it. If he doesn't then he really is a fool, a rich one mind you.

I'll thank him if he didn't take the maximum £5mil payoff like IH went gracefully. I doubt that.

Of course not. Anyone who suggested that was a "pant wetter".

Needed their nappy changed according to inapickle a.k.a inapardew. Seems like the owners and board need their nappy changed.

We really have some excusing limp wrists in our support.

Possibly and do believe the cup final saved him. Parish, in my opinion only, did the right thing giving him more time. The results definitely and quite possibly his comments about the American owners were the nails in his coffin.
He tried a style of play that as fans we loved to see, however he probably tried this 2 seasons too early and without a team of players that can step up to that level. If he has stuck to the quick counter attacking style we would possibly have more points and he would have a job. I wonder how much pressure was put on him to play more attacking more flamboyant football!!!!
Anyway he has gone now so onwards and upwards.

Maybe there wasn't pressure on him to do so.

Maybe he felt after the poor results he needed to 'sell' something to Parish and had to.

Who knows. I think we know Parish sees a long-term goal but won't risk the short-term needs to get to that goal.

Once upon a time you knew long ball or playing percentages would never outlast possession football but counter attacking football has become more of a respected art and likely to keep you in the division and more likely to evolve as the players can actually pass accurately rather than target a general area or forehead.

I had my doubts about Pardew and he should of gone after the cup final. But having renewed his contract, sacking now is premature.

like me i think a lot of fans thought he should have been sacked after the final. When he stayed many said he will be gone by Christmas, thankfully he has and just a shame it took so long for Parish to grow a pair.

I just hope they don't give him a big cheque, he certainly doesn't deserve anything, and whilst I had great hope in him, he has been rubbish.
He got too far ahead of himself, particularly selling Dwight, Jed & Yannick before getting solid replacements. I sensed he lost the dressing room weeks ago, and it was for all to see.
