It is the right time regarding letting a new manager have a full transfer window and funds.
Just when I thought that I was out...........they pull me back in |

Strange, but probably because they wouldn't want a new manager start with two defeats. That said, Watford is a winnable game and AP could've got a stay of execution and got his last chance. Regardless, it's done now but see absolutely no point in getting rid of AP unless it's for an upgrade which for sure is not Allardyce. He's nothing but a short term fix. We'll be calling for him to walk by the end of the season. Coleman, Neville, Giggs, Dyche, Howe, Mancini would all be better options in terms of longevity and trying to build a club. Not saying we could get any of that lot, but we should at least try. Edited by Stuart Shave (22 Dec 2016 8.08pm)

I really would prefer someone other than Sam - but given the new plan A B & C = avoid relegation in 2017 - Sam is the short term answer. The luxury of a long term attractive manager - that can wait till the summer. Edited by rob1969 (22 Dec 2016 10.19pm)

According to article in the Independent SA was spoken to 2-3 weeks ago about the job but AP was given more time by the 3-0 result against Southampton. Harris & Blitzer are onside with SA's plans and also the fact that SA is well versed in the use of 'Analyics data' which AP does not use very often despite having access to the Americans New Jersey Devils Hockey and the Philadelphia 76ers Basketball teams. SA also wants to bring in new fitness coach! Palace want to carry out due diligence on SA, get assurances from him on future conduct, agree backroom staff and then offer him a contract with a break clause. AP allegedly in standing down walks off with just shy of £5m plus £2.3m minimum ongoing renumeration! So maybe SA is nailed on already!

"Longevity" has been mentioned on here and "short term fix" has entertained the debate. At the present time we are in a relegation battle and need someone best placed to pull us clear and retain our PL place.

Apparently he also thinks the squad needs to be fitter. Whether thats true or not who knows, I'd welcome SA with open arms, he'll get the squad fitter, he'll sort our defence out and he'll play better football than people give him credit for.

As with Pulis, I don't think I could warm to SA even if he gets us results. If it is someone who has no connections with the club then I hope at least it's someone who can show some love for the club and not talk about Palace in the third person (like Pulis). C'est la vie.

I thought he and 1 or 2 others would be doing this for a month or 2. They needed it done. Doing things professionally then as opposed to Pardew's haphazard shambles with barely any planning and slack, 80% fit players. Sam is no fool like Pulis. They play to the players' strengths along with caution of the situation. We'll probably see more crosses which is what we want anyway. Possibly the odd knock down from Benteke to someone instructed to be near him to rifle it in. Better than no plan at 1-0 down. West Ham also played some decent stuff but want to be Spurs. Bilic did well last season then back to sh1tness this season. The Leeds left back is good and unless a big club want him we'll get him. Edited by Rudi Hedman (23 Dec 2016 9.44am)
