Please, no, not Fat Sam. He can't be, he isn't the only candidate for the job. Can't bear his boring football and can't bear him and his corruption. Surely we can do better? If he's appointed of course I will support him but, I suspect like like many other Palace fans, I don't want him. Would sooner have kept AP.

I am sure there would be plenty who would welcome a phone call. We have a good first 11 that need some guidance and the chance to spend in January. Plus whoever comes in could always have the safety net of blaming Pardew if we we go down.

After four years in the PL we're one point from the drop zone with six wins in a year; we're lucky anyone with a chance of keeping us up would even answer our 'phone call.

BFS really!!!! After 4 years in the PL that's who we can attract! I hope the club has more morals than to appoint someone who is a proven crook!!! And he is still facing a possible ban!!!! He is just another warnock!!! If that's who we get we should have stuck with Pardew.

Strange post, I don't remember him being convicted of anything, just caught in a sting that could happen to a number of managers.
How do you think, he is like Warnock? I would think they are complete opposites.

The FA don't sack people without cause and he yes he was caught in a sting that involved him taking money outside of any FA rules. Could have happened to any manager yes..... but didn't it happened to him. The police investigation is still ongoing and the FA one can't start till after that. Just the sort of guy we want. Like warnock in terms of has been short term stop gap below par manager who is only interested in himself. Yes I guess they are all in it for themselves but least Pardew showed some passion. We stayed clear of Mackie because of a lack of interfaith now here we are contemplating BFS. If we appoint him then our morals have diminished along with our ambition. There..... not so strange

Has he been appointed then. Must have missed the announcement. ....

Personally I can see the Welsh wizard taking over. Taken Wales as far as he can, jump ship before it all goes wrong....

Hope not Coleman is rubbish the guy has done nothing and people who claim he made Wales what they currently are do not know what they are on about Gary Speed built that Wales setup.

The other thing is Palace needs to get away from all this attachment to past players/people the staff and so on should be selected based on quality not what they did in the past playing for the club.

No need to bring up his sex life. We employed Pardew who assaulted another manager and player, Don't get all moralistic now, its life.
A police investigation, what a pathetic waste of time and money.
By the way, I am not keen on Allardyce as first choice, but object to people slagging him off and he hasn't even been interviewed

Just stating my opinion that I don't want him at the club for a number of reasons. And yeah I guess I got a bit moralistic for a minute but am back in the real world now :-)

I think you're wrong there Geoff. He gave advice on how to exploit a loophole. No different from an accountant giving tax advice. Sacking him was the FA seeking to appear holier than thou. Given the entrenched corruption in football this exhibited a level of hypocrisy that I thought even below our esteemed governing body.

As to a police investigation, I seem to recall the police investigating Gazza recently when he asked a black friend to smile in a wedding photo as he couldn't "see" him. Clearly a desperately poor taste joke thought abandoned somewhere in the mid-1970s - but criminal conduct? Likewise, the media went nuts over Allardyce so the police had to give the appearance of investigating. Eventually - after a suitable period has elapsed - they or the CPS will announce that the investigation will not lead to a criminal prosecution because... err... there was no criminal conduct. It is the nature of things.

As for Big Fat Sam - not mine or many people's favourite. Pardew was making us the least successful most entertaining side in the league. SA will reverse that... to an extent. However, to retain our status [which is the only way we can fully finance the rebuilding of our dilapidated infrastructure] we need to be in this league.

At 62 he has 2/3 years in the helm. By which time we will still be up; the ground improvements will have begun; we will have a deeper squad; we will have a fitter squad which will not only stop us leaking last minute goals but may also reduce the sort injury levels we have suffered in 2016; we will have raised our academy to Cat A; and we will have vastly upgraded the facilities away from the ground.

That would be the time to bring in a bright flamboyant manager who will swap dull mid-table for exciting just-above-mid-table. I don't think our club is ready for that just now. Too small; too fragile.

His record in the Prem is here.

Whilst he hasn't been blessed with top teams, hardly impressive

I will back him whilst he is here but incredibly disappointed that we have gone for him. Once again it raises the issue of what is our long term strategy and where is the infrastructure

the dignified don't even enter in the game
