When we were at the bottom of the championship, decent away fans would make the the game for me , next to the Holmesdale.
The away fans are an irrelevance nowadays, if you are sat in the Holmesdale, don't even think Pompey could be heard that far away.
We still get a decent atmosphere , but there's no edge to the atmosphere. Modern football, its not changing.

Hate to say it but I thought the united fans were very loud. No problem hearing them frpm holmesdsle. Chelsea were poor, I was in the loo when they scored and didn't realise it was a goal because they were so quiet.

Last season i was right next to Chelsea, Tottenham and West Ham in the Arthur. Chelsea were shocking then too compared to the other two.

I agree, I'm in the holmesdale and man united made some bloody noise to be fair to them.

I came back for the Chelsea game , and the atmosphere since I was last back , West Ham , had noticeably gone downhill.
It's a shame but I think inevitable because of our poor home form. We need a good run of three or four home wins to get the belief and buzz back in the fans.

Yep- the atmosphere in general this season hasn't been great. Think it's the apathy setting in.

It's hard to get a good atmosphere going when you know you're probably going to lose again! It will stay this way until Pardew leaves

Have been in a number of sections this season.

Was in main stand C for Manu and main stand D for Man city. On both occasions the away support was louder than the Holmesdale.

Normally sit in Y at the front with the kids as we need four seats together. If you are in Y then you don't hear the away support at all.

Think it's all to do with the layout of the ground and how sound travels / is lost - If the Holmesdale singing moved to behind the goal it would give a totally different perspective.

Isn't it frustrating that we can outsing the manks at wembley but then they get to outsing us at our own ground?!!
Its in a large way down to the stadium setup, at wembley the singing section was right behind the goal and the two blocks either side so the noise could travel both ways, thats why it was so successful! If we could replicate the wembley set up at home games it would make Selhurst a fun place to go again and we can have that wembley atmosphere week in week out

Unfortunately the atmosphere is getting worse and worse each year and we need some kind of change to bring it back to a decent level, we're living on past glories.

Yes, and it might help if we find some new songs to sing as the one's we have now are getting a bit tired.

That is one thing, the Championship was a lot better for atmosphere, and we've been pretty flat this year. The away games I've been to, we've been pretty solid.
