At least Dougie's seen the need many of us have seen all along - which I have never heard AP mention - the need for a boss midfielder. It's so obvious. We needed an improved Jedinak, but Mr. Genius let him go without replacing him. Then I hear Pardew saying that it's the same defenders we've had since before, showing me he doesn't get it that Jedi was part of a 5 man defense. I fear come February that we'll still be without that critical player. We need a Pogba type player. You see, Jedinak WAS the heart of the team, and AP's ripped it out, THAT'S what's missing. We should spend BIG on the type of midfielder that will in himself be the new Crystal Palace, like a Gerrard, Lampard etc. That's not Cabaye. He can't do that. But he played well today against UTD and I'd keep him with McArthur but asking him or McArthur to also play this role is stretching McArthur too far and Cabaye simply can't do it. Our season depends on the January transfer window.

Same old obsession with ex players....can't we for once get someone fresh in, someone who hasn't played for us before? Just because they're ex Palace doesn't mean they're the best man for the job....ex players don't LOVE the club, they just want the money!

I can understand walking out for a pay hike, but it's the grassing up to Cardiff that made me finally lose all respect for Freedman. Such a shame as loved him as a player, but when his stock was high he treated the club like s***.

Dougie back . No thank you. Top of the league and going well and he abandons us for more money.
Ian Dowie was the same and Steve Bruce. It's called loyalty. No thanks the opportunity was given to him and he blew it!!

We're going to need a relegation saving specialist again. Dougie is not that.

Bolton - Failure
Notts Forest - Failure
Out of work, why on earth would we want him back.
This obsession with ex players is a joke, they are all deemed better once they leave.

People have a misguided romantic notion that every ex Palace player loves Palace like no other club they've ever played for!!! That they've left - often to further their careers - and thought of nothing more that coming back to Selhurst and managing the club that's so close to their hearts! So close in fact that they're distracted and fail like Freedman did in his management appointments post Palace!!!! Yeah that's it!!! Bring Dougie back as he'll save us ... and we'll skip off into the sunset with Glad All Over being played by an orchestra and a local school choir ...

Freedman???!!! Really? Oh do f*ck off ...

I don't think I want Dougie back as manager but we do really seem to be missing spirit in the team at the moment, especially from the new signings.

He went out as manager to make sure the players we bought in were of a certain character, a certain mindset. And it was the foundation of our side for several years afterwards.

We could do with his experience back at the club in a coaching and scouting facility at the very least.
