Used to walk from hawthorn avenue, along green lane, onto parchmore road and down through the high street.

I lived but 5 mins from Hawthorn Avenue back in the day. We walked an identical route just 25 years apart

Yes, I meant Parchmore Road not Brigstock. Doh!

Remember when I was a kid walking up Green Lane and Brigstock Rd onto the High Street and the throng getting bigger and bigger the closer to the ground you got Vindaloo-video style.

That just upped the ante of excitement.

..yes, it was the best way to go.

with Southern Rail doing their best to screw the entire country let alone the south, is there any chance of the match tomorrow being called off as people can't get there??

If there was no sign of the 68 or 196

we'd walk from The Thurlow Arms in West Norwood.

up Knights Hill towards bus garage then to Crown

Point then it was downhill then.

Was a skinny stripling then.

Used to walk from Blackhorse pub in addiscombe.
Just off woodside green there was an alley that ran the full length of the back of gardens in birchanger rd and came out in Tennison.
then straight on to the ground.

For those that don't already know.
Blackhorse bridge is currently long term closed.
what with the rail tossers at it, traffic should be awful.

Dickinson's alley, still there, still use it.
Blackhorse pub isn't though.

We used to walk from Bentons lane round to the Park tavern in Elder rd, then up the hill to Crown point and the Rose and Crown. Onwards from there stopping in the Conquering hero, (looking at the lovely pond nextdoor) then over the top of Anerly Hill and downhill all the way to the ground. Like you, I was a lot fitter then with speed skaters legs so still had enough breath to cheer through the whole game whilst standing and jumping around. Now I can just about drive into Sainsburys car park and stroll into the Glaziers bar and find a chair!

Walking up South Norwood Hill always seemed longer and steeper after a defeat
