True - but I think Man Utd were at least winning games on a regular basis at the time. Nah - poor season & finished mid-table after (just about) knocking the clowns over last game. By their standards, not acceptable.

Still not sure what the deal is with AP. As has been said, anywhere else he'd have been long gone. I get that he's making major changes behind the scenes & helping build a structure for the future however, that's all pointless if you're relegated. Maybe SP & the Board see things that have convinced them we'll be ok - if not, I hope they're making plans for change.

After the long awaited press statement from Steve Parish i got the impression that the FA Cup run saved Pardew his job and Parish is blinded by that. He mentioned we were just 8 minutes away from winning the fa cup.

Had we lost against Southampton he would have surely gone. Edited by The Dolphin (12 Dec 2016 4.05pm)

Its wierd how split down the middle we are as fans when it comes to Pardew, the last 2 weeks opposition have said we looked decent, commentators have said we look much better, opposition fans say we look better, stats say we look better, all these 'power rankings' and stuff say we have improved massivly, the players look better, yet the 'pardew out' fans dont care about that. The fact is whatever camp you are with, you have a hell of a case to make!

I think it is about the future more than the past but naturally the past is very relevant.

When you start seeing falling attendances (as at west brom) would be a true barometer. Some of us are still happy to be here for an extended top flight run. Its called realism.

I don't really get the obsession with using a calendar year to rate managers. Teams play by seasons, not calendars. If we got Benteke in January, I think last season would have been different. As far as I'm concerned, Pards had a great start in 2015-16, and a horrific finish. (Mourinho just had a horrific start and he was finished). The squad wasn't that strong, and was weakened by injuries. Not sure how much people expected with Adebayor leading the line, and a Centre Back as out top scorer. Our Goalkeepers were not seen to be top class around here. This season, we are scoring for fun, a total change. But Pape's injury screwed our Defence. Yes, it would be nice to have a £8m replacement sitting on the bench, but that's not Palace --so it's Kelly and Fryers till January. Tomkins is taking time to settle in, but he keeps getting injured. The way I see it, Pards has two stars (Zaha and Big Ben). Four good players who can be dominant on their day (McArthur, Dann, Puncheon, Tomkins). Two players who haven't lived up to their expectations (Cabaye, Townsend). And three players who are solid (Damo, Ward, Ledley), but would not make the bench of a top-half team. Our Keepers have been average. Then we have squad players who can fill in, but really shouldn't be starting, and those in the physio room. With this team I don't expect Palace to light the world on fire, even if we had Mancini as a Manager. I imagine Parish did not succeed in bringing in all the players he'd wanted (James McCarthy, Jack Wiltshire, or Saido Berahino would be useful right now). So it makes sense to give Pards to the window, bring in 3 more players so Pards has a chance to field 11 Prem-quality players, and maybe actually have some decent choices on the bench.

Your right, i dont think 'down the middle' was good wording, its genuinly impossible to tell from here where the split is exactly...a lot of noise is not the same as a majority.

Problem is petrolrelation is that whether we have the strongest 11 or not quite the strongest 11 we are playing like a team that isn't focused or disciplined, not fit enough or mentally strong enough. They are all prem players, not championship players unready for this. Conceding goals from corners or our own corners, not backing each other up or covering each other, letting oppo (hull ffs) walk the ball from midfield, into the box and into the 6 yard area to slot it away. And that's some player at the bottom of the league taking it past 2 internationals and 1 who we thought should be in Dann before now. I'm sorry but this cr&p has to be dealt with now. Without Zaha we would be without hope of surviving and relying on one player and punts.to striker and penalties isn't good enough. I reckon the players know AP isn't good enough but can't afford to let points slip so plod on knowing he'll have to go soon anyway.
