As someone else said, Delaney is the only real leader left at the club. Dann is mature but he lacks the edge and inspirational character of a Jedinak or Delaney. Looking back over the past 10 or so years, we've had some good captains: Derry, Hill, McCarthy, Jedinak, Delaney. All were better as leaders than Dann is at the moment IMO. I hope Dann grows into his role but you get the sense that Delaney and Jedinak were more dominant characters that Pardew probably felt more challenged by.

Apart from that, Delaney should be interim captain until the season finishes, seeing as it is most probably his last season. Then we should go shopping for a ready made captain in the summer. f*** knows who mind.
