Yeah cheers - good to read and sensible stuff. Only quibble 'bad day' more like bad year - but as it goes it is history right now! See what happens over next few games...

Summary of what was said...

We've been masters of our own downfall
Worked ourselves into the ground this week
It was a difficult time, we weren't happy as owners
Different business to any other business with dissatisfaction from fans and media
Good to put all the doubts to bed
Josh and David and I speak 2/3 times a week, very straightforward
David lived here for 10 years, knows his football...
AP comments misunderstood, it's the smaller investors who don't understand football, wasn't the smartest comment
AP main intention was to thank the major investors for their backing, got twisted
We did get to a cup final, still have the right man for the job. Look at the overall record, 41% is very good win record.
2016 stat is an irrelevant stat.
We need to find better balance, perhaps gone too attacking recently
Plenty right, scoring loads of goals, defence was much better on Sat and what we were looking for
AP "totally safe". Every manager under pressure, totally binary industry.
No conversations on AP's position, we want him to succeed and everything is set up for him to do so. Everything geared towards him.
Top teams now gone up to different level, and very flat level at the bottom.
Points needed at Hull with the fixtures coming up.
Cup final still gutting, 8 mins away
We didn't play our best but we got the goal, want to make it right. Starts at Bolton, excited for that but league position priority.
Bad day at the office in football and suddenly you're an idiot. Nice weekend this weekend, looking for more victories.

Either he's trying to put a brave face on it or he's in complete denial. No definitive conclusion can be drawn from that one win last weekend, which resulted from Pardew practically being forced to change his approach. His slap-arse relationship with Pardew will get us relegated if he's not careful. He needs to take a more critical and dispassionate view of things.

Plenty to be concerned about there. If six wins from thirty-god-knows-how-many league matches isn't cause for concern then WTF is? If he thinks one admittedly decent performance and resounding result against a decent team that didn't really turn up is enough to "put all the doubts to bed" then he's on glue. That will still be the case if we give Hull a proper spanking on Saturday.

And if you tell a man like Pardew that his position is "totally safe" you're basically telling him that he still doesn't need to bother his arse laundering the bedclothes.

Thanks very much.

Would have expected a bit more pressure on Al (1 win doesn't fix everything) but then the above suggest he wasn't ever really thinking about sacking him contrary to media reports.

On the one hand I worry about us sleep walking into relegation, on the other hand for years on this forum we've ridiculed owners at other clubs for getting rid of managers too early. Hard to criticise SP for doing the opposite, clearly wants AP here for the long term.

Which is what I basically said but got pilloried with all the "Purporting to be In the know" brickbats which I received.

This coming from someone who fervently believes that someone being "In the know" doesn't give him/her any special status on HOL or other such site.

Agreed. No doubts have been put to bed as a result of one win and the 2016 stats are not irrelevant at all.

On Pardew's remarks that serious investors at the club 'perhaps don't know a lot about football'.

"His main intention was to thank Josh, David and me but unfortunately it got a bit twisted out of shape.

"We've got smaller shareholders and we went to a dinner with them and some of the other guys openly said they didn't know much."

Righto!

It was a bit of a puff piece really, but I suppose if Jim White really got stuck into the guests they'd have trouble getting anyone on.

Parish made a big deal about AP's win rate at the club being 44%

However, what the presenters failed to pick up was the fact the vast majority of those wins were in his first 12m at the club.

As AP's influence has infested the team and squad more and more the results have got worse and worse.

Also not being fans there was no discussion prompted by the hosts about abject AP disasters like Yaya Sanogo, Patrick Bamford, Emmanuel Adebayor, Alex McCarthy, Jordon Mutch, Loic Remy, Steve Mandanda etc. etc.....

Very good, Steve, a career awaits you as a diplomat. The only 'twisting' was that Al didn't mention Josh and David did he, just that he was thanking Parish for defending him against the other shareholders?

While the headlines published above are helpful for those who couldn't listen live, If you manage to catch the interview in full you get the full context.

Parish gave a calm and reasonable appraisal of the situation and, as usual, in my opinion, came over as an excellent chairman who is also a fan.

He did say Pardew's job is safe, but we know from previous years, if and when he feels change is necessary Parish will act. He has not achieved what he has in business and at CPFC without being prepared to make the hard decisions. I'm equally sure Pardew knows this!
