That also can read as 'we put sufficent' pressure on them, and narrowed down angles etc. Any professional footballer, with time, will find the back of the net 9 times out of 10. Defending is about not giving them time, cutting down the angles to get the block or give the keeper a good chance.

Thats how you see it now, it fits narrative. We won its all about our greatness. Get real, other teams with same opportunities would have smashed them in the goal & you'd more likely be calling for pardews head.
Loving the win but alot more work & serious work before 'crisis' as pards put it is over.

When I said he listened to people I did not mean us "mere peasants" on the Holmesdale I meant his training staff as he had Keith in the technical area yesterday a thing he does not like or allow usually!!

Exactly, nobody suggested he was listening to anyone on here, but the training staff and more importantly the players. Who would have thought AP would ask the players what they'd like to do in training.

Except for jamiemartin721 who jumped on me just for making a statement.....like he always does

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

I wonder if he has listened to whoever he might listen too or was forced to put out that team by suspensions and injuries and by chance the players felt more comfortable with that formation (which was more akin to last season's than the 'transition' side) and that led to the result?

Cabaye being suspended obviously needed a change and Ledley is the 1st option with an unfit Flamini. But I wouldn't be surprised if the players brought up the left back subject and Kelly pretty much admitting he's finding it a real strain. Persisting with Kelly at left back could severely damage his career for a while. Fact is Ward should've been there at LB weeks ago, or Fryers considering we went into the season with him as the next left footed full back which is unsatisfactory to put it mildly.

I feel guilty for criticising Pardew now

Some of the stuff I said was a bit harsh.

Although those 'clear the air' postings seem to have concentrated Alan's mind.

He seems to have really bucked his ideas up since reading my comments.

The thing is, as a supporter, you have to know when to give a manager a rollicking, and when to put your arms around them.

As a chooser of managers. obviously the buck stops with me. But I'm prepared for that. I walked out of The Two Brewers and into Selhurst with my eyes wide open. I'm not asking for sympathy. At the end of the day, if I know I've done a good job offering my advice, then that's enough for me.

Whatever Pardew says or does some of our fans will just carry on slagging him off, his treatment of Speroni blah blah yawn, his 2016 record blah blah, even though this season started in August not last January!!
I know he's made mistakes, but credit where it's due this week!!
it's only one game, but I'd love us to go on another decent run just to shove it up some of the relentless t***s on twitter who go on and on with the abuse!! There's an old English saying 'turn the fcuking record over'

As relieved as I was yesterday I'm glad we didn't play anyone better than Southampton as it could have been quite a different result.Hull will be a stiffer test as to whether we have rectified any of our shortcomings or not.

You obviously didn't watch Southampton turn over Everton last weekend as they were excellent and if they played the same way against us we would have been pulverised

No one hates Pardew, that would be unkind, what they have done with some justification questioned his tactics and management style. He especially did not help his cause by making silly statements ''like conceding goals I'm not worried about.'' Last Saturday was one small step in the right direction but by no means a leap! The task ahead is tough by his and our teams own making we still need over 1.2 points a game for the rest of the season to reach the safety margin of 43 points (not forgetting that West Ham were once relegated on 42 after 38 games). Lets hope that the clean sheet, a first since last April, is one of many 1-0 wins or 0-0 draws starting with Hull next weekend!

I agree completely; it's what he does next that's important now. If he let's one win and a clean sheet go to his head, we'll be straight back in the cack.
