A few years ago Chris Coleman had a bad car crash which resulted in a serious leg injury. He came back to play again but was never the same, losing some of his mobility and after a few months had to retire.

Lets all hope it's not the same case for Pape

He played one reserve game and that confirmed he was done.

Optimistic as ever

It's been a car crash year all round really.

Hope you get better Pape.

Quite saddened by this. It clear how much we miss him on and off the pitch. Somehow it was good to hear positive noises being made but we all know there are no guarantees with this sort of thing and it's hardly a typical footballer's injury.

There is a 4 minute interview with Pape on the World Service and my reading of what he said is that it's just too early to tell.

If it's a broken bone as was originally reported he should be playing again, I broke my shinbone but a year later was playing normally. But maybe there was associated damage to ligaments etc which has complicated things. Hope you get well Pape.
