Bloody liberals.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Maybe we could just go back to how it used to be....and still is in many countries....a national more integrated public transport system subsidised and invested in...since a cheaper well resourced not for private profit system might take people off the roads....and as a further benefit might make more people arrive at work on time etc and have greater economic productivity...so that the subsidy of a social cost results in a beneficial overall economic outcome.....not to mention better quality of life All went out the window with Maggie and her band of free marketeers...and see where we are know, whether its banks, roads, public transport, rent levels and so much else... Then again,we could just ignore the solution and carry on blaming immigrants as the cure all scapegoat for all economic and social ills......

So,let's assume that any system will be regarded as sh#t to a degree...shall we have deregulated, run for private profit, underinvested in and uncoordinated sh#t...as per now.. or at least go back (and forwards) to coordinated, better invested in,run for overall economic and social benefit sh#t...with more people not driving into city centres...? You pays your money, you chooses your sh#t,no?

I'd rather abolish all bus lanes and cycle lanes as most of them are empty whilst the car lane is choc a block. Also many traffic lights are phased to cause traffic jams in order to justify the congestion charge.

I actually agree with you,I don't think the transport system should have sold off.
