If your only missing link is defence; no brainer. Sad to see Alan go after a courageous attempt but it's a time for change. We need it as fans , so do the players. We should have been too ten to his season. (Oops, top ten this season.)

he is better than Pardew (indeed, he's completely done him tactically more than once). One thing's for sure: today would never have happened under him. 4 goals conceded from set pieces? no f***ing chance

over their very similar lenght of careers pardew has a better win percentage than big sam...why is he more likely to keep us up?

Because most of SA's managerial career has been around the top flight with unfancied teams.

Pardew got sacked from Southampton when they were in league one due to poor team morale.

You don't know when to give it up.

Agreed. We should break the mould of predictable managerial choices and be daring.

And yes, Fat Sam has that smug face and perpetual pucker that you just want to slap.

We need to be realistic, we have just conceded five at Swansea, three at Burnley, we have gone from having a solid defence into a shambles.

Yet people are talking about Brendan Rodgers. Sam Allardyce would get us organised, stop us shipping goals and give Zaha, Benteke and Townsend the sound base to play off. Then we might stay up we might even make the top half given we have a half decent squad we have.

What bit of top flight don't you get ?

Pardew spent considerable time managing Charlton, Reading and Southampton in the lower leagues whilst big fat Sam turned Bolton and West Ham into competent top flight sides and saved Sunderland from certain relegation.

Still, you carry on defending the indefensible.

Is that in Div 1/PL though ? Both have had longish careers with a number of clubs so difficult to tell. Thought he did well at the Spammers and set the core of that team up with signings such as Cresswell, Sakho and Kouyate. Also this in terms of Sunderland

"Allardyce earned praise for his management of Sunderland from some pundits, particularly for his organized approach and emphasis on a strong defence"

Food for thought ?

My gut feeling tells me there's more dirt and skeletons in allardyces closet waiting to be exposed. I don't want that side show and distraction going on at our club. Likewise I don't want us relegated. Very tough decision but I think allardyce would be the wrong choice
