Good post. Really not sure how anyone can argue with this. No one is arguing with it, just there were a lot of other factors that went wrong, including the fact that players were presumably instructed to stand where they did. If we're honest, the goal doesn't go in if Wickham stays on Toure. The players are to blame, namely; Hennessey, Wickham, Cabaye, McArthur and Lee but it undoubtedly stems from the management and training. But I still can't for the life of me understand why both Cabaye and Puncheon are standing in the same passing line. Anyone understand their job there? No, I don't understand their job at all, and there is absolutely no way that is where Pardew has told them to stand. If they can't figure out, oh maybe one of us should guard the near post, then I give up hope.

Looking at this, the players take the blame but for me it has to be Hennesey, as a goalkeeper myself the first thing you do when you concede the corner is get everyone in place. If subs have happened and there is confusion you take charge and tell players where to be. If I had a player on the penalty spot all alone and no obvious blocking lines for a pass i'd be screaming at someone to get onto him. You can say all you want about Pardew and his ability or lack thereof with tactics, you cannot do anything about these crap mistakes that we keep making

I would have taken Wickham off, I know there's some unwritten rule about not substituting a sub but Benteke knows his role on corners and Wickham's one of the worst players on our team in terms of managing the game. He could have just put Wickham wide left (a roll he's played many times before in his career), and kept Benteke on... It was a f***ing stupid substitution and completely disrupted the rhythm of the side, and ultimately led to the goal...
