(even though you think you're being sarcastic)

Maybe when we're in the Championship next season we could look at an up and coming manager...

So, your solution seems to be Jaap Stam or Patrick Viera who you describe as up and coming managers. I assume this is based on their circa 50-60 games of total managerial experience. Vera has done well with tons of money in a poor league, and Stam has managed for about 20 games.

Its clear where you are being sarcastic, you just don't know it.

Again, I think Pardew should get until Christmas and if the board decide to sack him I would look at Roger Schmidt.

If he is not available (not sure he'd want to come to Palace, but you never know), then I have already mentioned elsewhere Eduardo Berizzo (Celta de Vigo) and Christian Stretch (who has done wonders on a small budget in Germany). Both are up and coming managers who have an excellent record with clubs similar in size to ours. Celta also play really entertaining football.

I was just trying to point out that there are up and coming managers out there (to answer the who would replace AP), these are two I've recently read about as having promising futures. NeveR heard of the ones you suggest, but they sound even better, would happily have any of them. Given the team we have can't imagine many other managers not doing better than pardew.

I was being sarcy, but trying to make a broader point. You have at least offered an idea that makes sense, even if I disagree with your choices. Some call for sacking Pardew (some since last year) but offer up no one, or Allardyce. Who, when I looked it up, has a worse record than Pardew. He's never got a team as high in the league, and his goals for and goals against is worse. So, for me, that makes no sense as an answer.

As for English managers, I like Sean Dyche. He already has been doing many of the things that are thought modern: possession based, defensively solid, pressing, and a good team spirit. He would be worth a look, but I suspect we are not big enough for his next job.

That's why I think a foreigner might be the answer as I think they might be more easily attracted to the challenge presented by the club.

The ones I mentioned, I only know because I look up Freiburg's results (having worked there years ago), and they are a small club punching well above their weight. Celta are likewise a mid sized club who play nice football and who are solid. Roger Schmidt has an excellent record at all of the clubs he has worked at.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

He is a very good manager. Could the timing be right for us? Mind you, we'd still have the same complaints about a lack of defense, but the team would be working far harder as a unit than we have seen recently.
