Been thinking, as you do and maybe it is worth a try? How about,
Any of the keepers
Tomkins, Dann, Delaney
Ward Fryers (wingbacks)
Cabaye ( protecting the centre)
McArthur Puncheon
Wilf ( floating)
Benteke

Yes unfortunate for Wickham, but Wilf is on form and with freedom could be even more dangerous.
Am I going mad over thinking

Very good shout mate. Could see that working.

If worked on all week it would at least throw something at Swansea that they wouldn't expect,a bit like what West ham did to us.

For sure. Would like to see it as a way to beef up our shaky defence. It would allow Dann to come up more for corners and set piece as well. A temporary fix ideally, but something we need until we regain some confidence.

Can't see this working with current personnel but if we did try it, I would put Puncheon at LWB

the dignified don't even enter in the game

You know what, I actually completely agree with this. As a system it could well play to our advantages going forward, and it would shield us far better defensively than playing a flat back four currently is.

So Wilf on the left and Townsend on the right as wingbacks. Townsend couldn't tackle a big dinner and he never tracks back.

Aw, is someone upset i turned his suggestion down?

How's it beefing up our defence, you're basically taking a defender out and putting in another midfielder. We just haven't got the players to play this way, and certain not the trsomers to put it in place..

As I've said every time this keeps getting brought up, our lot are confused enough playing 4-5-1, which we've been using for years. Try anything different at the moment and we really will find out what a tonking is.

Not at all. It's all about opinions.
Playing two out and out wingers as wingbacks and on their unnatural side is just silly IMO, sorry.

Just for the sake of argument, we could try something similar to what Chelsea are doing at the moment, i.e. a 3-4-2-1 type thing -
GK: Hennessey
CB: Dann
CB: Delaney
CB: Tomkins
RWB: Ward
LWB: Fryers
CM: Macca
CM: Cabaye
LAM: Punch/Townsend
RAM: Wilf
ST: Benteke

I agree, we have been trying to play our current formation, which is sound, but we cannot get it right. What chance have we of mastering new system in a week.
